Hamburger press

On my recent thrift store excursion I came across this round, wooden item that just looked like a little keepsake box. It had a rooster on the cover and it said "hamburger press" on it. So obviously i released it is used in the kitchen. I didn't buy it, but was wondering for all the Southerners out there or kitchen buffs is this how you make a perfectly flat and round burger?

My grandma had one of those she use to make perfect patties wrap them up and put them in the freezer you should have bought that and but it on EBAY lol

I think I might go back tomorrow and see if it's there...it was only $2.
