What is behind the whole wearing green...

on St. Patrick's day? If anyone knows please share with us who like to learn useless things for that possible chance of winning a million dollars one day LOL. Thanks.

I think everyone and their momma would know if and when i ever win a million dollars..... And then I'd be hoarse for about a month. Thanks for the info.

I always just thought it was because it was a celebration of the "Emerald Isle". But since you asked, I looked it up. Apparently the Irish flag is green, for the Catholics, Orange, for the Protestants, and White in the middle to symbolize peace between the two. In Ireland, the Catholics wear green, but the Protostants wear Orange. I think I will wear Orange this Saint Pat's day and shake things up a bit.

HUH! I knew there had to be a history behind this...and guess what!!!! I have been a hyporcite all these years...I wear green and not Catholic !!!!!! LOL I still will wear my green because it looks better on me, but on the safe side I'll wear a bit o'orange too. Thanks.

well i am guessing because green is the color of the four left clover, and also it's the color i am guess most people wear in irlean spelled that wrong.
