There are so many bodies at the morgue the coroner can't work!

This is very sad indeed. The Montgomery County, Ohio coroner can't get his work done for lack of space. There are so many unclaimed bodies there that the lockers are full and there is no place to put them all.
One reason is the number of overdoses that have come in. But the coroner also says most of the unclaimed bodies are parked there because their relatives cannot afford to bury them. Most of them are unemployed or underemployed and just can't spare burial or even cremation expenses.
This must be horrible for the families, even more than the coroner.
Have you heard of this in your state or country? Have you heard of any solutions that were thought of?

It is sad to say, but I think we will be seeing alot of this. It is horrible to think we cannot even get our loved ones buried.

Well solutions are very simple: unclaimed bodies because of shortness of funds should be paid by the city. I mean, how much can a cremation cost? Come on city officials wake up?

That is just terrible. I heard a story on the news that a coroner is going to jail because he kept a corpse in his hearse for over a year because the family couldn't pay for burial expenses. The body was kept in a cardboard box. I'm not sure who's responsibilty this should be when a family can't pay for burial.

I'm not sure either. You would think they could provide a cheap cremation for cost and let the family pay when they can. There used to be "potter's fields" where the buried indigent homeless people with no relatives, I don't think they have those anymore but it might be an option with a bit of dignity.
