I'm a green hand at ebay, and during the last three weeks, i've been searching makeups night and day, at home and at office, even friends' home. i bid wildly and won some. then i turned my attention to perfume, again, bid and win. now, the worst is coming ! I love swiss watches all the time and i own a few already. but i find swiss watches are sold much cheaper than those sold in my country, in the shopping center, then, as you can already think out, i begin focus on these costly watches. so, here i have one question for you, hope you can help. Have you ever bought a watch on ebay? how is the condition? are they authentic? i'm confused. those above 1000$ seem to be authentic, but i'm not sure about cheaper ones, yeah, there are some used ones, still i'm not sure they are fake or authentic. so please share your watch purchasing experience on ebay. thank you.

I haven't bought anything on ebay. Some of my friends have bought many items on ebay and so far the items were good. I read in many forums complaining about ebay scams especially those items which are pretty expensive. many have bought the items thinking it to be original but when they receive the item, it's fake. Just be careful.

I too, have been hooked on e-ay last year. But I've also had real bad luck when it comes to purchasing "authentic" items. I was made to believe that the Bath and Body Works colognes I purchased (all 12 of them) are authentic. But when they were delivered, I found out that they were imitations. I tried contacting the seller but he seemed to have disappeared into thin air, like my money. I'd be careful in purchasing from e-bay if I were you. If you're into watches, you can join forums on watches like www.watchuseek.com. The people here are watch fanatics and members usually know reliable online sellers who sells real authentic watches. My hubby is a watch collector and his interest on watches have rubbed off on me. We have a trusted local e-bay seller who sells authentic Casio G-shocks and even if we find other sellers selling the same items he has at a much lower price, we still buy from him because he has gained our trust. I guess that's the key to becoming a successful e-bay buyer, buy from trusted sellers. What particular watch are you interested in? Maybe I can help you.

I haven't purchased anything on ebay simply because I am not sure if things are real there and it's really hard to judge. I think for me, if I have to buy something expensive, I would still go to a local store just to be safe.

I have never purchased a swiss watch or a watch of any kind on eBay. But if I were to make a costly purchase, this is what I'd look for... Check the seller's feedback. If the seller has outstanding feedback, 99.8 or higher, check to see what they've been selling recently. Some sellers like to "build up" positive feedback by selling lots of low priced items to get the public's confidence and then sneak in an expensive item. For me, this is a red flag and I wouldn't bid. But if a seller is constantly selling higher-end items and has all positives, then I'd feel a purchase could be safe. I always use my credit card to pay through Paypal on any item more than $100. This way, if the deal has problems, I can file a claim with Paypal and if that doesn't work, I have the option of filing a claim with my credit card company. This gives me double insurance in case of a bad deal. Good luck w/ your eBaying!

I love to spend my time on ebay looking for everything. Because there's so much different stuff and the prices are often very cheap for even new items. In my country everything is ridiculously expensive, so I prefer to buy things that are much cheaper abroad.

While I have never purchased a watch on ebay, I have purchased a lot of other things. I have not had a problem with authenticity - everything I have ever purchased has been exactly what the seller said it would be. That being said, I am sure that there are people out there who are trying to run scams. I would check the feedback received from the sellers that you are considering purchasing items from. That way you can see if other people have had good experiences with them. I never bid on items from people that have negative feedback stating that there were problems with the product or that the product was never received, etc. While I have purchased many things on ebay, I have never bought anything very expensive because I am just not comfortable buying something for a lot of money that I do not get to see with my own eyes. Overall, I think most people on ebay are honest but I would still be careful. I think that checking the feedback is your best bet to make sure that you are bidding on items from reliable sellers with good reputations.

Although I haven't bought any watches, I buy other things on ebay all the time. If you only deal with sellers who have good feedback and who have been on ebay for awhile you shouldn't have any problems.

Although I haven't bought a watch on Ebay, I've purchased many other things!! Some cheap, some expensive & haven't had a problem. I also sell on Ebay & I know how Ebay is about selling imitations. This is what I suggest although these may have been suggested by others, Check sellars feedback, If it's less than 99.9% see why they have been under rated, it's not always because they are a bad seller. Some people leave negative feedback for the most stupid of reasons! Check they have sold a similar item before & the feedback for that item or contact the member who purchased it & ask their opinion. Genuine sellers don't want to taint their reputation, buy from an established seller who has a return/refund policy. Ebay warns if you sell imitation goods your account will be deleted, so if you do purchased a watch & have any doubts contact Ebay. Also ask the seller loads of questions & ask for the certificate of authenticity - Expensive watches & jewellery should have these readily available. If you have any doubts about the seller, find another one, There are always plenty of options on Ebay!! Good luck MrsL x x
