Reporting for Jury Duty ?

United States

live in San Francisco, and my group number is 109. I Reported for the first time on Thursday. Luckily, I was dismissed later that evening. Then my father told me that my service is complete and that I don't have to report till next year. But today I checked the website and they were calling for groups 101, 112, 113, 108 to report on Tuesday (today) and that the other groups have to check the website or call every day. I'm getting nervous, cause I really think my group number might get called again. Though, I didn't receive a recent letter or anything. The only letter I got is the one I got from last month, which I already reported for last week. How many times does someone have to report in one year ?

I don't know if the laws there work exactly the same as here, but over here I don't think you're ever excused as such until you either get excused from future jury duties because of medical reasons or whatever. Or until you serve. What reason were you dismissed for? Like were you personally dismissed for a specific reason, or just your group? If it was just your group, then for this case I'd say that unless they complete jury selection, you could well be called up again.

Well for this case you won't be recalled. I'm not sure how long a grace period you'll have from being called up for other cases though. In Australia you could be called up again next month. But again, I don't know if the system works the same or not.
