Camping - Paid sites (slot) or wilderness?

We love to camp and prefer to be out where there are no people (which also means no amenities). I know some don't like to be out where there is no power, no showers, etc. My feeling is that if we go where there is a lot of other people, we might as well pitch a tent in the backyard. I'd like to know which you prefer. Why or why not?

I like to camp in a secluded area too, but I don't necessarily like being in the wilderness without resources. I don't necessarily need power or showers, but I'd like to think there is a local authority near by if anything were to happen. *shrug*. I argee, though, camping DOES lose it's.. authenticity when you're surrounded by a bunch of different families, in RVs with power & electricity and such. It really takes away from that classic, tent-camping experience.
