Does the color you paint your walls affect your mood?

My family is moving soon, and we are buying a house. My parents told me I can pick out a color for my room. I said I wanted black. They tell me no, that it will only bring my mood down. I said it will not, I just like the color black and have never had the color on my walls before. Either way, I'm gonna plaster my walls with posters, but does black really bring your mood down?

forget the black and get a "black light " for your room then paint it, get posters that show up with a black light, check out spencer gifts they have stores all over and they have some stuff i'm sure you'll like for your room. rock on dude. i think the black might just bring ya down, but you can alway's paint over it. really check out a black light. and get a strobe if you find a cheap one.

yeah if the color of the wall is bright makes me feel happy, when it is dark, it makes me blue.

black tends to make the room look smaller (why do you think most women wear black or have a little black dress?) not only that, black is hard to paint over. it takes several coats to get rid of (after you are tired of it, that is)
and apparently, colour does affect the mood. studes have shown this.

Just to answer the question about you mood. I think the black will change you mood, maybe not bring your mood down, but definitely change your mind. I believe in the concepts of color affect people's mood.
