Anybody have Yosemite vacation tips? Here are mine. A local's perspective on enjoying Yosemite - feel free to disagree. Yosemite is absolutely stunning. If you have never been, you need to add it to your mental "things I must do before I die" list. With 3 million people visiting the park each year this sounds like Yosemite can get crowded. It can. But, plan your trip well and you can enjoy Yosemite like it is your own private playground. Tip 1 - Plan your trip to avoid the peak crowds. There is always a good time of year to visit Yosemite. Just keep in mind, 4th of July weekend, will have a few more people visiting than the weekend after school starts. Wed is better than Saturday. Tip 2 - Keep it LOCAL. Avoid the big hotels and corporate-owned lodging. Find a good small inn or Yosemite bed and breakfast. Get tips from the bed and breakfast owners where to go. Locals know best, old-timers know the most. For example, Don and Kay Pitts of the Yosemite Peregrine Bed and Breakfast have lived in Yosemite since the 1960s. They are the people locals get tips from. They know every inch of Yosemite and share their wisdom with their guests. This is info you won't get staying at the big hotels. Tip 3 - Go slow. You miss a lot rushing around trying to see it all. Tip 4 - When to go is as important as where to go. Time your trip for what you want to do. Waterfalls dry up by June, but wildflowers come out all year the higher you go up. The Merced River is warm enough swim in in July. Tip 5 - Stay outside Yosemite to save money. Make sure you know how far your bed and breakfast or hotel is away from the park. Check a map before you make reservations. Tip 6 - Not all Yosemite bed and breakfast inns are equal. Check reviews. http://www.satherhouse.com/

Good tips. Yosemite is beautiful. I'm guessing from you user name the BNB part is short for "bed and breakfast." Do you run one? Welcome to mylot.
