Do you think distance education programs are as good as regular ones?

I have been surfing the net for the past 3-4 days to find some distance education learning centers for MBA for my niece.I am have confused with the question that whether distance learning is as good and effective as regular campus learning. Well distance learning is useful to the students who are also working full time or part time and it is also cost effective as there is no cost of travel,transportation etc. But i think that if we pursue distance learning then we tend to get lazy and less disciplined as far as our curriculum is concerned.Less socializing and less networking are also some of the disadvantages of distance learning. I am just curious to know what the mylot community think about this? Waiting for informative answers.
