Now I too believe that God is all powerful and can do whatever he chooses and it would be the moral decision since he is the universal moral center. I am wondering however if he has ever given us any indication that he would choose to support one over the other in a sporting arena. I can understand him being willing to help persons who serve him but the make up of several teams is normally diverse with persons from all kind of religious background. So I am wondering if any one out there has knowledge that can support whether God would choose one sports team over another. I am of the view that he loves us all and would not choose one team over another ,but I may be wrong, I am no authority on the subject.

I believe God gives the athletes the ability to play and the knowledge of how to use that ability. I do know that God will intervene in sports from experience. My son is a senior in high school and very involved in sports. Just about two weeks ago I sat through a very stressful game where I prayed the entire time. I never asked God to let them win but I asked that He allow them to play to the best of their ability and finish the game, whether they win or lose. They won the game in double overtime and have now come further than they have since 1972 in the district finals. Tonight they play that same team for first in the District Championship. I will be praying as much tonight as I did that last game.

I believe like you that God gives them the gifts of athleitic ability and how to use it too.I dont know if I want to say that your prayers werent answered as I have no proof of that but from what I know I dont think he intervenes on behalf of one and not the other .However I wont belittle your win and I hope your son continues to do well

I like to think of Him sitting with a bowl of popcorn watching and cheering fotr Both teams. I can see him intervene if someone is hurt or making sure of near misses. But making sure one team wins, I don't think so.But there have been some miracles on the football field so I could be wrong.

I don't believe God would intervene in a game of any sport. After all, it is only a game and he has more serious things to consider.

Hello ronnyb, God is not a person with likes and dislikes. As you have mentioned He is Universal Energy which is present in all animate and inanimate objects. In animate He is present in man, all land and sea creatures, all forms of plant life, infact in the entire Creation. It is Man who is responsible for the differences and divisions. God unites but Man divides. We are all His children but it is we humans who have created the divisions amongst ourselves in the form of race, creed, caste and country.Rightly as you have said God is present in all those who take part in sports in equal measure and He has nothing to do with favouritism but it is we with our indivdual or collective egos who create all the confusion.God loves all equally, the sinner and the saint and He does not differentiate or choose one over the other.

Nice answer .I think you are right as far as I can see.He would never support any activity that would further create divisions and he has nothing to do with divisions. If he was supporting any team he would do so equally or nothing at all.Thank you for your response

Hi ronnyb. You're topic sounds like, DO you think GOD Will side to a WINNER or a LOSER? :P He doesn't side with anybody. He can not be placing all HIS grace and DIVINE powers to make one team excellent in their field. WE make our destiny. God is just there to guide us in our decision but it's up to each one of us which path to take. That's how we are separated from other living things. God gave us FREEWILL to make decision for ourselves. So there, my answer is NO. GOD is not there to choose who HE will side on. BUT He's there for support for both sides.

Yes something like that .I believe that too especially when it comes to sports.I totally agree that he doesnt make one team excellent over the other .The thing is if he does intervene it would be to the same extent which would mean the same as not intervening but he doesnt choose one over the other.

I'm no authority too, but I believe He does what is best for us. So if one team wins, it is not because God is partial with them, but because that team deserved to have won. Coming to terms with different situations in life and why they happen, is very difficult. Do you read the Bible? Read and believe. Keep praying to open your mind to understand things. I don't have answers to many things. But now I've stopped questioning. I just believe in Jesus and that He is there for each one of us if we need and ask Him.

Hi ronnyb! I do not think God favors one sports team over another. I think that He is proud watching those athletes who are playing with integrity, those who have showed honesty and good sportsmanship and at the same time His heart is breaking for all those athletes whom He loves just as much but are cheating their way to victory. Although I haven't talked to God about this (haha..)but I know for sure that God is fair and that He loves us all. Take care and have a wonderful day! lovelots..faith

God may intervene ay any time, in anything. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were a bit of the Divine included in many exceptional sports performances!

Hello my friend ronnyb Ji, "GOD MEANS NATURE", any on egoes by nature, it is from Almighty, any act, we do to harm otehrs goes undoubtly against nature and we all suffer. We do not do any thing for God, we always save our skin and get benifitted by doing good deeds. God intervenes not only in sports, but His presence is Omni. may god bell everyone here and have a great time.

I don't think he does that. I mean he created the players and the coaches, but I don't think that he says "I want the Steelers to win.". It would get rid of our free will by deciding an outcome. but who knows... God and religion is such a confusing subject!
