My husband is in the process of seeking SSDI and he completed the physical exam now he will be going for the mental exam. What kind of questions will they ask him at the mental exam? Do they do an psychological evaluation? Will the appointment be long? What kind of tests do they do?

I hope experienced friends here will tell you what they have had on their own experiences regarding this matter. What I can contribute here is only one reading article which tell you about the category of exams involved in SSDI and what you need to know about MENTAL STSTUS EXAM(MSE) also included in this article with lucid explanation and types of question that will be asked;

My deep pray your husband will pass the MSE exam and his application for SSDI will be approved in future. You can communicate with the blog writer/owner because she is one of the food stamp's staff and ex-SSDI staff. Thanks for the "BR", wish you the best of luck, look and your life continued success.

Back when I applied for SSDI back in 1980 because of juvenile arthritis they didn't have me get a mental exam. and when I had to reapply about 3 years I didn't have to do any thing but have my knee ex rayed. What is your husband's disability? That might have something to do with having a mental exam.

They are checking to see if he is mentally stable. I do not remember how long it takes (my mom went through it), but if I remember correctly it is a verbal test, just talking. and maby a questionare. I wouldn't worry about it becasue the results will not hurt his chances for help (unless he is claming instability and is found to be just fine.)
