Have you heard about this? This was an interesting research experiement that narrowed down the top 10 most depressed Cities in the USA. "Some U.S. cities were depressed even before the economy went on life support. These were the cities that saw the highest depression and suicide rates even while the Dow Jones was climbing to 14,000 and Countrywide Financial was considered a respected mortgage lender. Why? Blame a variety of reasons, from divorce and crime to lousy weather and job loss. While that's bad enough, it will be important to see how these rankings change from this year to next. As the rest of the country struggles with the financial crisis, it is possible that some of these cities may soon become even unhappier." 1. Portland 2.St. Louis 3. New Orleans 4. Detroit 5.Cleveland 6.Jacksonville, FL 7.Las Vegas 8.Nashville TN 9.Cincinnati 10.Atlanta http://realestate.msn.com//slideshow.aspx?cp-documentid=18184152>1=35000#1

Well that's a very interesting read. I guess it makes sense, and I can definitely understand places like Detroit and Jacksonville being there. I can't really comment on the rest as I've never visted them. I would've thought L.A. would have been there too. Sure L.A. can be all bright lights and fame, but it is also a cesspool of shattered hopes and dreams.

That is really surprising to me :) I am from St. Louis and I would have never thought it would be ranked up there that high. I can say that the economy has affected things here, but I would not have thought any worse than some other areas of the country...weather is hit or miss, but job loss has been pretty real.
