hi friends.i guess most of u must have known the cartoon characters tom and jerry.its obvious the mice fears cats and ofcourse cats eat rats.but u must also seen in other cartoons that the cats runs like hell on seeing dogs and u get the impression that dogs r mightier than cats.i thought the same till yesterday when my cat angered my dog and within a fraction of a second, the cat scratched my dogs face with its paws and the dog ran away.so i am getting this doubt.can cats really win fights with dogs or do i have some weird specimens of cats and dogs in my house?

No. It is not weird. Cats are not afraid of dogs. They really fight back. When our cat has newly arrived our home, they always had a fight with our dog. Cats do not initiate the fight. It is always the dogs. Now they are used to each other. They already learned to love each other. They stop fighting now, but instead they always play, hugging and kissing each other.

My dogs have learned to respect cats. My cats are at the top of the picking order as it should be. I have great fur kids. They all love and respect each other. A growl will send the cat away and smack near the face will send the dog away. They have it all worked out.

I think it depends of size of the dog.. Cats are often afraid of bigger animals.

I have 2 dogs and 1 cat, and they are not afraid of each other. They get along just fine. and it is fun watching them play together. When my cat has had enough and does not want to play anymore he lets the dogs know it, and they leave him alone. a cats claws are very sharp and they get their attentions across very quickly.

I think cats and dogs can't get along in general. However if they have been brought up together they can be friendly to each other. MY dog just hates cats to the core and would chase them mercilessly. The cats have to take shelter by climbing trees or taller buildings. I have no idea why they hate each other so much. I have also seen bigger cats bullying the younger puppies lol.
