when someone states an opinion and it's not really what you believe do you debate it? can you state your opinion without being rude? I'm only asking because in another forum we have debate teams and i'm a member on one of the teams, in the last few weeks i have been on the team that is against whatever we were debating. so even if it's the opposite of what i believe i still have to stick to the debate and be against it. it has caused me to really think and be open minded, to view things from an opposite point of view. we do this all in fun and so far i have been able to state my opinion with out being rude, sometimes it can get tense and out of hand. but so far so good. so what i'm asking is if you do debate would you debate against something that you truly believe just to be more open minded?

I love debating. My only problem is that I have to debate on something that I am passionate about, something I know a great deal on. If its something that I dont really care about then I dont bother. I always try to do it in a polite manner, state my opinions and facts without offending others or being rude, which sometimes can be difficult.

I would prefer not to debate anything unless I'm being insulted by someone. Then I can rebel, get real turned off and not want to talk about the issue any longer. I like a calm and easy life. I do have opinions but don't always think I am right. I'd be horrible on a debate team.

I like hearing people doing debate. I like hearing their different views and opinions about a certain topics. But I will never involve myself in to one. I have a short tolerance. I might pick up a fight I f I join one.
