so i was sitting on my computer doing some school work, a friends of my family came over and he brought his daughter who is 4 with him. Now i have two kittens and a mother cat that this little wanted to play with so i let her and she did what pretty much any child under the age of 10 does pick up the cat and carried it around til it could excape then she moved on to another one this went on for a good hour or 2 then she and her dad left. the rest of the day my cats were sketched out and skiddish of ppl. my question to you do familys that smaller children have animals that dont get along with kids or people for that matter?

Well I have 4 children from 4 up to 17 years old. I also have a 8 year old cat. My kids know not to bother the cat and the cat minds his own business. So far so good for us. I am sorry to hear about your cats and those children. I would have thought that their mother would have told her children to behave themselves. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!

Most small children have a natural affinity for animals, and they have no idea they're a bother. If your pets don't like kids, perhaps you should let your friends know that so they can leave the children home, or you could put your pets in a closed room until the children leave. Trying to keep a small child away from a soft, cuddly animal is like trying to nail gelatin to a tree -- it just won't work!

I have a 10 month old baby girl. She's gotten to the point where she likes to play with my cats and my husband's dog, but we are careful to watch her. She has gotten clawed when she handled the cats too rough, but it's not the cat's fault. It was hers. Any time I'm at a friend's house and that friend has pets, I keep an eye on my baby. I know one of my friends doesn't have kids yet and she has a big rottie mix dog. That dog is sweet as pie, but I'm still leary of a dog who isn't used to having a baby crawling around.
