Ziploc Vaccuum Seal Bags and Pump

I got one of the hand pumps for free off the mysavings site (I think) and it came with three sample bags. Well I had it for a while before I whipped it out to try it. And I have no idea why I did not try it sooner, or did not already have the thing. It is awesome. And so easy to use. I know they also have an automatic one for people who cannot do it manually. And with a big savings on the meat when bargain shopping it is well worth it to buy the bags. I loaded up on meats and now I do not have to worry about freezer burn-yes I used the old fashioned freezer bags and some frost snuck in.
But I love these things....can you tell? Have you used this yet?

I bought one about 7 years ago, used it about a dozen times and now it sits on the closet shelf. The actual bags for it are really expensive and to me it's a waste to buy the bags only to throw them away once their opened. I tried reusing the bags but they don't seal very well the second time around. I prefer to use the freezer ziplocks and I'm really thinking of switching to freezer paper (the kind butchers use). I'll probably end up selling my vacumm sealer. I did do one thing though that I'm happy with...I had some really old paper money and I vacumm sealed it so that it doesn't deteriorate any further.
