I know someone who eats peanut butter and jelly! ugh! I'm pretty boring with my choice of food. Even when I was pregnant, I was hungry all the time but aside from drinking too much Diet Coke, which was probably not very good for me, I ate a lot of "normal" food, well I don't know, would you say plain cous cous is normal? What about you, do you ever crave strange food combinations?

Not me, I never craved any strange mixtures of food. Thank goodness for that. What is cous cous, I hear about it often, what is it made out of?

It's hard to describe cous cous. We find it in the pasta section at the supermarket although it doesn't look like ordinary pasta; it's made from Durum Wheat and it looks granular a bit like coarse sugar grains. It is mixed with water and it's not very exciting on its own but mixed with vegetables and casseroles etc... it’s quite nice.

I have seen it on TV on cooking shows, and have seen it mixed with vegetables. I did not know it was a form of pasta. I will have to look for it, and give it a try. Thank you.

I used to love Vegemite and lettuce sandwiches. Would you consider this weird? Vegemite and cheese is also a good combination! I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food and will try pretty much anthing once within reason. It's my Wife that's the Queen of strange food combinations though. She'll eat mandarin pieces with salt and vinegar for example!

Mandarin with salt and vinegar, well I could see how that may work... I'll comment when I've tried it. I don't consider Vegemite with anything weird!

I have a tube of Vegemite here with me in Cairo that my Mum sent me! I don't eat it often though, because I want it to last.

Hi Paula, Everyone has their own version of 'normal' but the one that I enjoy from time to time is a cheese and marmite sandwich (you either love it or hate it. Huggles. Ellie :D

Sounds like our Australian cheese and Vegemite. That's not too bad, I could handle that. Thanks!

I think I eat pretty normal foods but my mother has always eaten strange foods. I was thinking just a while ago when she used to cut a big slice of onion on a piece of bread with a piece of cheese over it. Another "sandwich" she used to eat all the time (I use the word sandwich loosely) was a bell pepper cut in half on a piece of bread. She used to put different things on it (probably onions) besides the bell peppers but all I could see was the big green bell pepper that basically took the place of the top piece of bread. But the worst thing I ever seen my mother eat (that I could remember) was the time she had fudge ripple ice cream with grape jam on top! God it's gross just thinking about it.

Ugh! I thought the bell peppers were bad enough then you tell me about the grape jam! Oh dear, don't think I could try that! That's for responding!
