It's a one side story, many things do happen and this is how the writer felt it. There can be hard when cultures do meet and you're not fully understand what it's all about. There are several people from Iran and other muslim countries that have western wifes or wifes from the same culture and that's great men. I know some of them and they wouldn't act that way. There is a problem if going home for some men since the will be considered strange since they live a totally different life now, than in their homeland. There are always two sides of a story! I did find the book interesting, but there are several others I would say is better. Siba Shakib have written a book called "Afghanistan, Where God Only Comes to Weep" that's worth reading.

I've never read the book, in fact i didnt even know there was one but I've seen the movie and its definately worth watching if you've not seen it....I'll have to look for the book at my local library..

Hello.I have read the book twice and saw the movie twice as well. It's a good book to read and the movie was good as well. I read this book some 10 years ago but still remember the story clearly. Well what can I say - I thank God that I did not marry some guy from the middle east and I was not born there.
