I would share with you the peom written years ago by a famous taiwanese writer, Yu. It is about Homesick:
"When in teenage, homesick is a stamp, which linked me with mom,
When grown up, homesick is a ticket, which tied me with my bride,
Later, homesick is a tomb, where i am outside while mom inside, and
Now, homesick is the straits, which separates us from the continent."
How many of us are feeling the homesick?, and when we will get back to our beloved?

Hello my friend zhuhuifen46 Ji,
You have touched my feelings, some 50 yrs ago, when I was in hostel and even after my
service career, befor my marriage. It is a great experience, specially, when I was to
join my parents and family members, after little gap. But , I thnk it is a part of life
and we should enjoy. Poetic expression are praise-worthy. may God bless all and have a

Hi zhuhuifen, it’s really a sad and touching poem. The words using and the way the writer expressing his feeling about homesick in different stages of life is a minute description that really impresses me so much. Yeah, during the earlier days Taiwanese were not allowed to visit China even though their loved ones like spouse, parents, siblings and relatives as well stayed there. I was told that one could hardly get the valid pass to visit his dying parent who had been separated for decades of years. No wonder the Taiwanese famous writer could create such a fascinating masterpiece of poem.
Yeah, I had homesick when I was having my in-service training in the other state after I had given birth to my son during those earlier days. It was really a hard moment for I had to leaving for the college and leaving the beloved a month old baby at home. The homesick feeling grew seriously and would wring my heart during the middle of the night. It was a great torture to bear the homesick pain alone in an familiar foreign land

zhuhuifen46,
There will always be a story behind every story, so is homesickness. Having been traveling for decades due to my work, homesickness is inevitable for me. And I must admit that although I am a seasoned traveler there will be times I will miss my family and home right till today. However, as always I will just have to force myself to accept it and make it a point to find familiar items from home to my new location. Photos, memorable family collections of travel souvenirs, even some gift cards can help to give me a sense of continuity and ease the shock of a new environment.
Pouring myself into my work is also another way to take my mind away and when there is any free time left will choose to cut short my stay and fly back or find some activities like exercising to distract myself. Sometimes, I will even take up a local sightseeing tour to familiarize myself and soak up relevant knowledge of the locals and their cultures therein.
Thankfully, today's technology around the world has been improving leaps and bounds especially in the area of information technology and telecommunications where nowadays video conferencing can be available via our mobile devices like a cellphone or smartphone. These sessions are not only heart warming but helps make the distance between us relatively short.
Lastly, it is helpful and comforting when I am able to make new friends in the foreign place where I am. I am fortunate that I have been found approachable and the opposite party to readily accept me. So, to date, I am quite proud to say that I have made a relative number of friends globally.
All in all, that is just life and we sometimes cannot ask for or avoid having to travel extensively and be away from our homes and love ones.
Have a nice day.
