Taking responsibility for story..

We all have our own life story. It is filled with relationships and events that help shape who we are and what we believe to be true about the world. Depending on our perspective and willingness to grow, our experiences can be negative or positive. Remember this: IT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENS BUT THE STORY WE TELL OURSELVES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. Lets take a moment to look at the life story we create for ourselves on an ongoing basis. If we generally feel peaceful about the past and trust in our ability to handle whatever comes our way, then we are framing circumstances in a manner that serves us well. On the other hand, if we retain a lot of guilt or resentment and often feel weighed down by life, we may want to start telling ourselves a new version of past and present events. No matter who the characters are in our story or what they have done, we alone, can give their actions the meaning they will have for us. We are the only ones who can define what role it will play in our own life. By taking responsibility for our story, we are able to learn and grow, forgive and find compassion, and most importantly, move on into a brighter future.

Hi Pose123! I have a lot of stories that made up my life, some are good and some are not so good. But whatever the stories were, I have forgiven myself and learned from it all. I appreciate the good that came out of the not so good stories I had have. I know that because of all those stories that unfolded in my lie, I am a better person today and hopefully will be a much better person as I age. Looking at my past stories, I am able to smile and say.."I am glad I am here today with so many wisdom that I was able to picked up along the way." Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

There can be alot said a bout karma, you give what you get, most people i bleeive live within a set of ideals they try to live by. These things can changed based on a situation you are thrown into. There are serial killers and then those who snap and kill from reaction or action. I beleive 99% of people live thier life and treat people as they want to be treated.

Hi tea512, Thank you for commenting but I think 99% is a little high. They may want to treat people the way they are treated but other things get in the way. Blessings.

It helps to know that happenstance, luck, chance, and accidents are not valid in this dimension. Nothing just happens, there are no accidents, and you can't get lucky or unlucky. There is a Grand Design, in which we each play a small part. As William Shakespeare wrote, " All the world's a Stage, and all the men and women are merely Players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts..." We are creators in our own right, We create our lives second by second, and minute by minute as we live each day. This knowledge is very helpful as we take responsibility for our story, and as Pose123, so aptly phrased it, "move on to a brighter future."

Your right as usual. We are each responsible for our own story no matter what the external world brings our way. One has only to look at all the people that live what appears to be terrible lives and yet many are happy and content. These are the true heroes of our times.

As for my life. I can not say that I live the ideal life. I did some big mistakes in the past that I pay for until now. Some personal choices about relationships. But I see now the light at the end of a tunnel. My life has just been to reborn. I'm embracing the new dawn.

hi pose! by reading your discussion, I remember Bo Sanchez's topic last sunday or two sunday ago. The story depends on how we see things. Problems are always there but we can use that, on the lighter side. We can make that problems into a blessing. We just have to focus on our blessings. no matter how many problems come our way, blessings are more compared to the problems. take care

Hi Grandmaof2, Thank you for commenting and I agree most of us find some of this very difficult. Maybe it's because we still haven't realized the great benefits it has for ourselves as well as others. I'm reminded of the story of the two brothers who hadn't spoken to each other in years, although they were neighbours. Early one morning the eldest awoke to find his brothers house in flames. He ran over and was able to rescue his brother and the two started talking again. It often takes something like that to bring us to our senses. Blessings.

Yes, we need to take responsability for our actions and understand that bad past experiences are part of the growing process. By moving beyond those negative feelings ,we are opening new doors to a brighter future.

Hi, U've said it all.All right & clear! I think- Life is the Mirror, what we see there is Our Reflection. It all depends on Our 'attitude' what type of Reflection the mirror will reflect of us.We should be conscious & positive about it.B'cz, what we reap is what we sow in Life. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.

I was about to start a discussion on the same note, Taking Responsibility. But then something let me just scroll through to see what many discussion has been started and by whom. And I saw yours! There you go again Pose. I dunno your intention for starting such discussion on such important matter. What I thought to myself was if all of us in this world become a Responsible citizen then I think, our world will get a lot more better a place to live! That was what I thought and why I wanted to start one on the same topic. But you did it and I really love it my friend! Keep it up! It looks like we have more things in common then we imagine about each other!! I totally agree with you that our response to any story is more important than the story itself. The way we told ourselves as to what happens in fact shapes our life inch by inch everyday. It is said that every single significant emotional experience both positive and negative that we come accross in life play such a significant role in shaping and making us what we eventually become and what we made ourselves to believe we are what we are because of these many responses. This they called it our self-concept which is not the real self. But the real self is much different than we thought what we are. This is why I believe and strongly believe that our Responsible response to any story in our life is so important!
