My C disc is now full (500MB). My computer a laptop that I bought in 2004. So it's already kind of old. I really hate the notifications that will popup everytime I open my computer. It always told to clear my /C. I always run the clear manager, but it take a lot of time. I already tried to removed some programs that I don't use, but it keeps full up. I just wondering what would you, my friends, do in this kind of situation?

An external hard drive would work for extra files and programs. You could also upgrade to a bigger hard drive, and also defragment the hard drive.

Well why dont you put extra high capacity RAM in your laptop. that will allow you to save more data i guess. i really dont know much about computers but i know that when you want to increase the space in you C drive then you can buy a new ram or an extra hard disk

I already tried to move some files to /D, but it says that it might influence the fonctionement of the computer, so I didn' dare to move them. Or else, my /D got like 20GB...

You can put your files in D, just make sure they're not important files. So stuff like pictures, movies, and documents you've written should be moved to D. Also, as far as some comments people are leaving I want to correct a few things. First of all, getting a bigger RAM will not help your issue. RAM is for Random Access Memory, the memory your computer uses to do tasks. Your issue is with with your Hard Drive Memory - the files that stay there even if you turn off your computer. I already mentioned getting an external hard drive in my first comment, but I noticed someone mentioned getting a bigger Hard Drive Disk (the one inside the computer). This is a possible option, but that one requires opening up your computer whereas all the external hard drive needs is a USB port.

If possible replace it with a much bigger in volume. Nowadays hard disks come with 40 to 200 gigabytes. Yours is 500 mb, which is not sufficient, I don't think.

Hello, 500MB of Hard Disk space in drive C? Its troublesome,. If you've removed some programs but still got the low disk space warning, try browsing your drive C, then look for some folders that contains some large files, if those files are not needed by you, then you can delete it,...( basically some laptops do have backup installers on drive C and the recovery data on drive D.) maybe some installers got duplicated in drive C that you can safely remove...

If you want to free up some space in your laptops c drive then use ccleaner to free up all garbage and rubbish files then you can turn off system restore it will save considerable amount of space and use aprtitioning software to increase the free space by taking some space from adjacent drives. uninstall unnessesary programs that you do not use.

Move some of your files to an external memory. Also clear of some of your unwanted programs. See if the laptop has another Ram slot or upgrade the ram. This should help.

First, I would suggest to do a hard drive cleaning, run a cleaner; it will delete temporary and old files that are not really necessary but yet consumes space. That could free you a considerable amount of space in your C drive. Secondly, uninstall programs that are not needed. Leave only programs that are of importance to you and that you use very often. Then, defragment. It will compressed things in your hard drive and would save you some space. If you're hard drive is still full and you really need those things that are in there. I would suggest to upgrade your laptop to extend its memory or if buy an external hard drive for you to save the documents, videos or music you have. Good luck

Get an external Hard Drive and put all of your files there (especially videos and music). Buy it online since they're cheaper (for example a 250GB hard drive can cost 100$ in stores, but you can get a 1TB, which is 4times the memory, for nearly the same price online in sites like buy.com or newegg or ecost!)

How about saving files to your email so that you can delete those files in your computer? You really have to clean your c to avoid problems of hang ups.

Hi my friend, Don't worry its easy to free up C:/ and use some space from D:/. Go to www.download.com and download " Partition Magic" ,after donwloading the partition magic and installation ,you will be able give some free space from your D:/ Drive to your C:/ without loosing any data.I have been using this software from years and it really helps me because i sometimes install too many programms in C:/ where then i don't have any free space left, after that i get some space from D:/ and this way my problem is solved. Try partition magic if you get any problem just drop me a message i will help you out. Cheers.

There are 3 options I recommend: 1. Buy an external hard drive. (I recommend buying from CompUSA) 2. Get a new hard drive disk. 3. Buy a new computer, which could get really costly.

Get flash drives(like 5-10 GB's). You just plug them in, store the files on them and keep them organized and labeled so whenever you need something, plug it in to a USB port, and there it is. Also it works real well cuz you can take them on the go, so its like bringing your laptop with you.
