Technorati Influence

I remember someone asking how this was worked out a while back, but I can't find the discussion in my list of responses (hey, MyLot admins, how about building a search function that works?).
I found out today, by pure chance. Here's the text you get over on the right if you click your blog's influence number (for 'blog reactions'):
"A subset of blog reactions, Technorati Authority is the number of unique blogs {in the Technorati index} linking to this blog over the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has."
So basically, it's how many links from other Technorati blogs you get in six months. The nice thing is that it counts even if your post appears as a 'most popular' or something on a big site - for example, Blog A has a post which shows up in a general list on Blog B's site (because they're both with the same blog host). Blog A gets an Influence point. Cool.
