I recently downloaded a new photo editing program called Picasa and I wanted to share my first edit with my friends . As some of you know, I have been itching to work on some videos (which made the photo editing a necessity) and this is a lot of fun! Yes, what I'm working on is related to Twilight laugh at me if you will!

Swirl Image Of a Photo of Mine - image of a photo I used with swirl effect
Great job there! I don't have picasa but photoshop and photo editing can get quite addicting...LOL. Okay here's an enhance photo of mine...it uses the swirl effect...so the picture winds up looking like a galaxy...at least to me....I'll later show you want the real photo is...care to guess what it MIGHT be?????

Since you use photoshop, do you know how to fade out or change background colors? The only reason I even got photoshop was to fade out backgrounds and handpaint, greyscale or sepia photos and then for instance create green eyes or color one flower or the ribbon on a package, etc. Picasa doesn't do those two things. It is VERY addicting and I'm afraid I might start manipulating everything from now on. It was fun editing some of my daughter's ballet pictures, using focal point color and soft focus I could make the photo zero in on her without cropping everybody else out lol.

Original Photo : Swan - image of a mute swan
First....I'm including the original photo that I "swirled"---to be honest I'm still learning about photoshop...mainly hit and miss, trial and error. One way to change color background though is to pick a color from the "palate" with the thing that looks like an eyedropper, then pick your brush size and "paint" the color in--at least that's what I do...probably IS a better way to do that, just haven't figured it out yet..LOL. I'll have to read my copy of Photoshop for Dummies book...I have a copy of it but never really read the whole thing

I had a little bit of experience with picasa but it was not so successful. I don't use it anymore.

Picasa seems to be such an easy program to use, it doesn't do EVERYTHING but it does a lot more than the other programs I have tried do. I have Kodak Easyshare Gallery and also editing with paint but neither one has the options picasa does.

Why thank you! I was especially excited about being able to change the exposure - fill light, highlights, shadows, along with soft focus, graduated tint, and B&W focal. For art/graphic use for my vid and scrapping projects, I especially like being able to add text. I might have to use photoshop in order to layer or combine photos, but give me time.

Hi boo, The picture is beautiful. My husband does all the photo editing and he uses photoshop I believe. It is amazing what you can do to a picture. Especially when the eyes are red. Have fun with your new toy. leenie

Thanks Leenie! I have been doing a few more things, it's very easy, it's just hard figuring out exactly what you like once you start editing.
