How Long Can You Live in This House?

To some, this looks like a play house or just a resting station in a farm. But no, this is a house in a very beautiful island. The house has no electricity. Water is fetched in a well 100 meters away and has to be boiled before it can be used for drinking and it is a little bit salty. I want to tell you that the island is a diving paradise - white beach, very colorful corals, hundreds of fish and invertebrate variety and is never visited by devastating typhoons. The sea surrounding the island is also a good area for sea weed production. A family (couple in their early-twenties with two kids) built and are living in the house for more than a year the time I took the picture. If you are to be in their place (literally and figuratively), how long can you survive in such house?

I don't think that I could live on an island.I don't like water as I am scared of it due to the fact that I almost drowned a few years ago. This house seems extremely small and I don't like small houses.

Our scary experiences do affect our choices today. I do hope you will get over your fear of waters soon so you will enjoy again the beaches, rivers and the pools. Yes, the house is small. That's one of the point I want to share here. Some of us are complaining of our good houses without knowing that others don't even have proper shelters.

The place is perfect. I too can live in such place for years but for sure, I have to improve the house. The houses in the neighboring bigger island have constructed concrete tanks to collect rain water which they utilized for drinking and cooking. I would like to have that in this house too. And a solar panel for electricity!
