i went to a cafe to browse, and the attendent was very busy, so i decided to help out, cos he's a very good friend of mine. i was helping people with their different problems, but this particular one, called for this disscussion. there was this guy who just got a flash drive, he claimed he had a project at hand, and so needed lots of information. i left all i had to do, and sat with this guy for hours, helping him search for all he needed. at the end, i saved all he confirmed useful to him into his flash, and gave him he's flash guess what happened next, the man shouted at me, saying where are all the documents i asked you to save to my flash, i told him they were all in the flash, and he said it's a huge lie. that if the documents are in the flash, why is the flash not heavy, that i claimed and saved his work, and gave him an empty flash. i tried all i could, to explain to him, but he wouldnt listen. i even went as far as puting the flash in the system and showing him the docs in the flash, then he said the docs are on the system and not in the flash, i took the flash to another system, all the better to convince him, still same old story. WOULD YOU CALL IT IGNORANCE?

@redhotpogo has a good point lol that would have been the best way to confront him. If you do want an explanation that is more technical and yet simple then try this - if you have a 2GB flashdrive, imagine that that is already one big file. When you save a 2kb file in it all it does is flip the 1s and 0s in the flashdrive in order to write down that file - and toggle another 1's and 0s to tell the flashdrive that THAT is actually a single file. That's how stuff are saved in it. Also it's a 2GB flashdrive - it already HAS 2GB in it - they just don't mean anything at the moment. When you save files, you interpret 2GB of "nothing" into information :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

It's really crazy. Firstly i was very mad at him, but couldnt help laughing. i didnt know such people still existed in this modern age. you need to see how he was arguing like he was very sure he was right. it was annoying, and funny at the same time.

That is kind of hilarious but it is also sad. Maybe the guy was just putting you on? I find it hard to believe someone with computer skills would not understand the use of portable files considering people used to carry their files around on floppy discs. If the guy really didn't understand he may have some kind of mental issue.
