I admit, I didn't see this for what it really is until the following columnist, Kevin McCullough, so aptly pointed it out. I had wondered occaisionally just how Obama was going to exacerbate the present economic situation America is in and still come out on top as the "hero". Then I read this take on the whole situation and it all makes sense! Here is the article: http://townhall.com/columnists/KevinMcCullough/2009/03/08/why_obama_wants_america_to_fail Do you believe that "we the people" as the author describe us, will allow this obvious socialist/communist to complete his plan to "change" America? Are we already at his mercy with no recourse? Is there any way to minimize the effect of this man and his minions?

I've said before that I'm an American first and I've voiced the concerns and objections that I've seen so far. I don't hesitate to contact my state representatives and others when I feel it's necessary for my voice to be heard. I've given up on Mel Maritnez, though. He's got one foot out the door and doesn't care anymore.

Spalladino, I have got to tell you, I don't believe anyone in Washington cares about the people anymore! People are just necessary evils needed to get elected every four or six years, nothing more!

Check out the discussion I just posted. They do care...if only for the reason you stated...but if it looks like the majority of those voters are unhappy, they'll pay attention. We, too, can manipulate the system.

I honestly think we are already at his mercy and do not see how 'we the people' can do much to improve the situation when we have the foxes guarding the hen-house. This except from the article ...."So I don't find it surprising that recently even Obama supporters are now openly questioning his plan to revive the economy." does not seem to apply to the myLot Obama fanatics.

Whiteheather, Although there are still several diehard Obama supporters here at mylot, the lack of "undying love" posts on this forum is a good indication of just how fool-hardy these people feel right now. The "man with the plan" isn't quite as shiny as he once was!

Greetings Sir Rodney, Are we already at his mercy? You know, I don't believe so. Rather, I believe that We The People have been complacent, obedient 'strawmen' for so long that we've forgotten that the underlying foundation of this nation is the individual sovereign, in conjunction with the sovereign states. At last count, twenty-something states are working on, or are planning on working toward re-asserting their 9th & 10th Amendment 'sovereign state' status. This I believe is an effort by the states to lay the groundwork for those states to be able to free themselves from the financial avalanche, and the policy disasters that the centralized government and Team Obama are creating. I believe that Kevin McCullough is like many this day. I believe that he, and so many others, are in a shock induced holding pattern, where commenting on the activity of the day is the best that can be mustered because we all fear the same general outcome if we do other than just observe. Mr. McCullough's inclusion of Whoopi Goldberg's criticisms of Obama (whom she has staunchly supported -- until now anyway) is a prime example. It is inconceivable that Ms. Goldberg is the only Liberal who is harboring these angry criticisms. The more people are hit in the pocketbook, the angrier they will become. So, the pot of water is heating up now. Soon it will reach the boiling point. Is there any way to minimize the effects? Yes, there are certain remedies. Though, they require organization, commitment, and courage. For example: If every American employer would stand resolute behind their employees then We The People could hold our Federal, State, and FICA taxes hostage until this Socialist coup is stopped in its tracks. There are, of course, other solutions as well. But, the bottom line is that as a people, we have come to recoil from even the slightest wince of pain. And, there is no question that any and all measures to halt this coup will cause pain. So, other than 'dukin' it out' in the arena of ideas, it pretty much all depends on whether America can still be resolute in her values and principles, if she can even remember them.

LadyLuna, I agree that it is not too late for America but we rapidly approach that proverbial "point of no return"! The majority (at present time)of our nationa voter base is so sold on the "two party" system that any chance of breaking this circle of stupidity seems far fetched. I now know how our founding fathers felt at the enormity of the task they were about to undertake and how it must have seemed impossible. Our basic freedoms are being erroded a little at a time and pretty soon we will be like the frog in the pot--boiled--unless "we the people" take a stand!

You're right Sir Rodney. The more his policy initiatives are allowed to take root, the more difficult it will be to undo the messes that are being created. A perfect example? I'm waiting to see how many people will cite Timothy Geithner, Tom Daschle, Hilda Solis, Nancy Killefer, and Ron Kirk as an excuse for not paying their own taxes. And, who could blame them?

Well, at least now you know. I recognized this clown way before the election, and there were plenty of discussions about him and his plans. About all we can do is hold our Representatives feet to the fire and demand that they do the right things in opposition to these policies. There are still legal avenues open in the aspect of eligibility, and several lawsuits are pending... the trouble is that the judges are too scared to uphold the law and are refusing to even hear the cases. We are fast approaching a point where the 2nd Amendment may have to come into play, because our government is becoming more tyrannical all of the time. We may be forced to stand up and defend ourselves against our own government as it has now turned on us. There are no easy answers, and this has been developing for years... people just refused to see.

"people just refused to see." Unfortuately, many still are. Though, more and more they are openning their eyes. I believe that now that Whoopi Goldberg has let the cat out of the bag that it's really OK for people who voted for him three months ago to lambast him now for his bone-headed, destructive policies, that we can expect to see more of the same. Unfortunately, many people feel the need to wait until someone else 'goes first'. You know, it's the "Hey, let's give it to Mikey to try" thing. Now that someone else has gone first, I expect the groundswell to grow at a very rapid clip.

First of all can I say WOW! I can not believe how fast the tone has changed, just a few months ago if you dared to question King Obama you were a racist heretic who should be hung in the court square! lol. I am glad that someone is beginning to see the real danger this country is in, I cried bitter tears as Obama gave his acceptance speech, and I never was an overly political person, in fact I am 37 and had not voted until 8 years ago (hangs head in shame) What can "we the people" do? First we have to have someone to call the rally! Who will step up for the people? One person alone will be brushed away like a bothersome fly, however if the masses could be motivated and understand then maybe we could change something. I pray this is the case anyway.

I had a friend tell me not to worry about America becoming socialist, because we are already there. Obama is just putting the finishing touches on it. I think we have to stand up and stop it. Call your elected officials EVERYDAY. Protests, rallies,etc... Get active about perserving our country. If we just sit back and grumble and it, it is not going to stop anything. GET ACTIVE.

Lilwonders, I agree, we have to take an active part if we want to preserve our way of life. I just hope we haven't waited too long and it becomes appearant that it is too late for our freedom to be saved. Heaven help us if it is!
