Are there any Book Mooch members here? For those of you who don't know, Bookmooch.com is an AMAZING site! It has nothing to do with making money, of course, but is a used-book exchange site that is free to join and available to anyone from any country. How it goes, is like this: you make an inventory of the books you have and are willing to ship to others, and when you successfully ship books to other people - you get 1 "point" (per book), and you can use this point to "buy" someone else's book. I think this is an amazing idea, because of the rising prices of new books. It's a really "green" idea, if you ask me - and what's that cliche? "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? One issue I have with this site, however, is shipping costs. Postage has been rising like crazy, so it's hard to be able to afford sending out a lot of books. I've been a member of this site a couple of times and have had a huge success with it and I would highly suggest it to anyone who has books they don't want, and a list of books they do (but can't afford), and a little extra money for shipping. Has anyone else had any experience with this site? What are your feelings toward it?

Hi maezee, I have not heard of this site nor any like it. I really like the idea behind it. I will have to check out Bookmooch and see what the details are. Like what if I sent a book and they did not report that I had, I would get NO point? Cost of mailing a book could be a bit high as well. Are the members willing to wait while a book shipped out via media mail through the USPS? I will have to do some inquiring. Thanks so much for letting us know about this site.

What a neat concept. I've never heard of this website. My fiancee belongs to a website that you trade video games much the same way. With the cost of video games, it's definitely worth it for him. Books though - there is always the library. I too would be concerned about postage. Sometimes with the price of postage you could go out and buy the book for just a few dollars more.
