I hate when topics smash into your brain but I prefer that to what I saw today. We were coming back from yet another test at Children's Hospital. We pull up to the corner to make a right turn but even though we had the green, we had to wait. There was this man standing in the road in the middle of our lane. Hubby stopped and we waited. Idiot Man then started to finish crossing the road. Now as much as the Idiot man deserved to be run down for crossing against the light, he wasn't because the woman driving the almost mower stopped short. For her trouble she was then hit behind by Dim Guy in the SUV. Now we watched this in that silly slow motion that isn't really slow but sure seems like it. Here's the part that bothers me and the reason I'm typing this out.... The Idiot Man? Remember him? He was with in inches of death, stopped for all of a second, didn't bother to check on the folks in the car and walked off with out so much as a wave. It was his fault and he didn't even bother to check on people. Have you ever dealt with or seen that ungrateful for their life kind of garbage? What would you have done if you were in any of the three cars?

I think the man should have been stopped and the police told of his involvement. Even though the SUV driver will be faulted for rear ending the lady, I personally think that the man walking should have been issued a citation for crossing against the light!

It was one of those split one way roads. He didn't make it past the next corner before this huge guy grabbed his back pack and made him stay. He wasn't happy about it and still never approached any of the people from the cars. He was a real jerk.

We have some local law enforcement here that would have thrown the book at him. Sounds as though maybe he has some mental issues besides the "Being a jerk" part. You didn't say, but I hope no one in the two vehicles were hurt.

They were very shook up. The driver of the front car was more upset by what could have happened and how ungrateful the Jerk was.

He was caught and held on the far side of the road. The gentleman who held onto him wasn't happy. I'm not sure if he had seen the whole thing but he had seen enough. Ladylike wasn't really what most of us were thinking.

Wow if you had held on to him here you would probably be charged with false imprisonment or assault or some such thing! xxx

Oh I have seen this type of thing so often before chimes and there isn't much that can be done apart from to sit and watch open mouthed and incredulous. I would obviously have checked that everyone was unhurt and didn't need help but not much else you could do - you can't grab the idiot man and make him wait til the police get there and they probably wouldn't charge him anyway so I guess all you can do is give the others involved your name and contact details so that you could be a witness for insurance companies, police etc if needed! xxxx

It is good to hear that people are not afraid of getting involved sometimes as apathy seems to be a growing trend. You never know what someone will do if they are spaced out like that or what they are carrying - that is a scary thought. I am wondering if the man were perhaps mentally ill? xxx

A big man on the far side of the road grabbed him then his backpack. The guy was free to go but the bigger guy had his back pack. I don't think he cared if he got in trouble. Here I would have been more worried about the spacey dude being on something that made him dangerous and carrying something that could cause great harm.

Taken a picture with my cell of Idiot Man and turned it over to the cops. Probably wouldn't have gone anywhere but the lady that got hit would have something to show her insurance company........

Poor woman indeed. Let's hope that Idiot Man gets what's coming to him later on 'down the road'!

I've seen many people who have been ungrateful in their life. It always amazing me to be honest. If I had been in the cars I would have called the police and ambulance on my cell phone, and reported them. I would have used my cell phone to take a picture of the man that caused it,to prove to the police that this is what occured. I'd not move either. I've been in four major car accidents in my life, none of them my fault, but I can't afford another accident. The last one was caused by a stupid college student not paying attention and she put me into a back brace for a year, and a neck brace for 4 months! I'm not going through that again. One of the accidents, my two oldest were in the car at ages 6 and 18 months! There were injured in that wreck and my second oldest now has back problems because of it. I think people who cause accidents should have much stiffer fines then they do. Just my two cents, I get a bit worked up about this sort of thing. Namaste-Anora

We did wait though we weren't directly "Hit" but we had been there for the way he walked against the light. They couldn't have seen him as he came around the front of my father in laws Truck thing. We also called 911 because it was the right thing to do. I wish I had a camera phone because you're right that it would have helped. People not paying attention do seem to cause lasting troubles. And they don't realize. Look at your child who will forever have to deal with that person's lack of awareness.
