Cellphone Messages Gone Bad!

Cellphone owners from the Philippines would know exactly what I am talking about. I have had a cellphone for as long as I could remember. Gone were the days when instant messsages were really something you stop whatever you are doing for. I noticed that a lot of messages from the cellphone networks, informing you of the newest promo or of the coolest discounts, seem to just come too often. It is downright annoying at times. There was this one time when I was waiting for an important text from my father and was closely watching my phone. When I received a message, I quickly read it and much to my chagrin, it was a message from the network asking me if I wanted a certain tv host/actress to be my textmate and that the service is only for P2.50 per text! I had to resist the temptation to call the customer service representative just so I could give somebody a piece of my mind! What really pisses me off with these messages is that they come in bunches. It doesn't come in single texts, in a day I can get as many as 9 of these useless messages. If you wish to stop them from coming, you are to text the network (costing you at P2.50 per service you want to stop!) What is worse, I tried texting the number they gave just so I could be free of these bothersome infotexts, I got the usual charge but still got the same texts every single day! I understand that this is a part of the network's marketing strategies but it can be really annoying! The point is that most cellphone users got their units not to avail of these services but just to have a tool they could use for communicating with the people they actually know! Not actors and actresses who wouldn't know them from Adam even if they did subscribe to these text the stars promo from the networks! I wish there was some way these networks would stop bombarding subscribers with useless infotexts and concentrate their efforts in improving their services!

You know what? Just like you my phone also doubles as an ipod and a psp at times! There are times when you really can't avoid using cellphones. It has become a way of life for most people! Thanks for responding!
