Blocking Members

March 10, 2009 10:53am CST
Hi there! Does anyone know if there is a way to block someone from sending you friend requests? No matter how many times I keep denying a particular user's request, they keep sending me new ones. They've been a member for a long time, but never started any discussions because they clearly only use the site to promote their money making links. I'm just not interested in being spammed by their referrals and they keep contacting me. Is there any way I can keep them blocked?

If you leave the request as 'pending' it will end there and just get left in limbo. That way you will not receive any more requests from that user as you will neither have denied nor accepted it.

Yes, mysdianait is very right! Not accepting or denying the friend's request is also a good way of not making them your friend.. Just let it sit there, after a while, if they are smart, they will get the hint. At this point, don't do anything, just keep on leaving it in a pending state.

Hi, Phaedra_Scythe! I am sorry that you are having this difficult problem! As far as I know, myLot does not have this feature. But, you can decide to accept or deny their friend request, which I am sure that you already know about.. Just keep on denying it.. I know that you get tired of being used.. Contact myLot and tell them your situation, and maybe they will suspend this persons account.. Good Luck on this situation! I am sorry that myLot does not offer this feature, it would be great if they did! Maybe now, they will, being that, you are having trouble on this..

I don't think there is a way other than to just not accept her friendship. Or just leave it and don't do anything about her and then she can't request again since you never accepted or denied the first one. I have had to do this with one of the members here because she just couldn't seem to accept that I didn't want to be her friend. I only accept friends that I have things in common with so that I can respond to their discussions. So if I have nothing to respond to then there is no reason to be friends. So heads up and don't let it bother you but just ignore her.

I believe there is none and no such feature included here and the only recourse is to report them to the admin and let them do the work. Another thing you need is to ignore the request and let it be there so the person could never send you another request.

Yes, it's one of the few really annoying features on Mylot. Others have given the practical answer. I just wish there was an "Ignore" button so I can filter out the inane, racist, and otherwise teeth-gritting responses that regularly appear under certain user names. Lash

I too have been a victim of this. Do one thing. Do not remove or disapprove the requests. Keep them hanging so that they can not send another. And if you are to accept some see his/her portfolio and activity and if want accept and if not keep on pending status. Hope this would serve the purpose.

I do agree and I have done this thing before and I let it pass for many months before I deny it. Since then I didn't receive any request from that person again. Maybe that person is gone already too.

unfortunately there is no "block user" feature here the best way to keep them from re requesting you is to let their request sit in your pending box as long as its pending they can NOT request you again
