hello everybody here at Mylot. most of you-all know that my clothes dryer stopped heating yesterday afternoon. well i came home today, threw my dirty clothes in the washer and instead of going to the laundry matt, i rolled my clothes organizer outside and my clothes are drying in the sun and the wind. whoo hoo! so tonight before bedtime, i will just roll the clothes organizer back inside. lol so tell me, have you ever made a make shift clothes line outside to hang up your clean clothes on? thanks for sharing and have a beautiful afternoon.

I was without a dryer for a long time, I dried my clothes outside for a long time. In the winter time I dried them inside. When there is a will, you can figure out the way. Its much easier then going to the laundry mat.

Hi TnWoman! Yes, i do have a clothesline at my backyard. We always have the sun shining so brightly in most days especially this summer. And during summer, it is alright for me not to use the dryer just to save electricity because the intense heat of the sun is enough to dry the clothes in a few hours. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

Great idea! When I had no appliances and couldn't afford the laundromat, I used to wash my clothes in the sink and dry them on the shower rod, curtain rods, etc. I even hung them up in trees! I plan to have a clothesline this summer. I'd like one of those umbrella-type things but they're awfully expensive. I'll probably buy a $5 wooden thingie at Walmart.

I have a clothesline and I cant wait for winter to be over. I love to hang my clothes outside. They smell better and it saves energy and money. I also have one of those wood clothes racks. Some people dont like the stiffness from drying outside, I like my towels to be kind of stiff. Fabric softener helps but if you dont use it on your towels when you line dry they dry you off better.

Hello Tn! I cannot say I would have done what you did, you are a very motivated person! I would have not even thought about that as a solution, but I also live in a neighborhood that is very new, and I can't really have clothes outside because the neighbors would complain. They are a bit on the stuck up side, I'm sorry to say. I did used to hang the wash outside years ago when I lived in FLorida, of all places. It was maily because I did not have a dryer, olny a washer, and I HATE the laundrymat as a rule. It was nly a pain in the butt when the storms would just show up out of nowhere, but it didn't happen too often. Hope you have a beautiful day yourself!

Oh yes, I sure have hung my clothes where ever I could find to put them. When my dryer went out too. I got a new dryer and washer. I'm so glad to have them. I got the front load ones. I also got a new frig and stove which has made me a very happy person.

I have a clothes washer at home but not a dryer. At most, I can program the washer to spin dry my clothes after the wash, and that's as dry as the clothes can be coming out of the machine. But over here in our tropical weather, we get sun almost the whole year round, so we usually take the clothes out to dry on clothes racks. We'll put the rack out on our apartment balcony, and the clothes get dried after an afternoon of sun. So for us with our kind of weather, there is no real need to have a dryer. I think most families don't use dryers around here as far as I know.

Hi TnWoman, I don't have one of those as my garden is so tiny and there is no room but I do have my tumble dryer which I use a lot. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxxx

I hung some cloths line on the fence in a corner of my yard to make a dryer. I never want to pay for all the electricity to use my dryer.

Hey TnWoman! Theres is nothing more beautiful and refreshing then the smell of clean clothes drying in the sun outside! It is such a nice smell! I know it is a bit of a pain, but it really is nice to do it now and then, especially when you don't really have a choice! At least the weather was going to co-operate with you! I have to wash my clothes and hang them up in the house! It is too cold to hang them outside where I live and the neighbors are theives! So if I don't take them out to the laundry I have no other choice but to hang them inside! I have a washer, but no dryer!

I have a line on my balcony which I pretty much use 10 month out of the year. It safes money and I don't have to get up and down the stairs a bunch of times. Our laundry room is outside.

I actually had my husband hang a clothes line for me last year. i like to put my blankets and sheets on it. (when it warms up of course) the laundromat dryers sometimes "burn" the clothes and now since I have a washer and dryer at home I don't have to go anymore.

I love the smell of clothing dried outside in the wind and sun, my sheets are never so white as when they are dried outside. What a clever girl you are to think to that. Good for you

Hi TnWoman, I love the smell of washing that's dried outside. Here in the UK we are just coming out of winter so yesterday I put my towels on the line for the first time in months and they dried!!! lol I was so pleased as the weathers miserable here. My daughter has just had a bath and came in with a towel around her and she smelled beautiful of the fresh air. i've never had to make a line outside but I would if I had to.

There is nothing better at night then crawling between the smell of air dried sheets!...awwwwwwwwwwwww! And yes i have made some pretty funny makeshift clothes lines.. I have used ropes between trees. A line from a fishing pole...I actually wedged the whole pole between the branches of one tree, and let the line out and stretched it across and around another. I have taken my portable wood drying rack outdoors..and my clothes pole on wheels out of the cupboard..whatever works..IF its warm and sunny, theres no way Im going to a laundry mat. I even hang my clothes out in winter if its sunny!
