My little sister is 13 years old. I recently found her trying on MY makeup- that little brat! XD Anyways, she's too timid to ask our mom for makeup because she thinks she's too young. How old is old enough to wear makeup?

I don't think it's too young- I wore makeup at 13. I think it's good if the girl tries at a young age, so that she can look back at her mistakes and learn from them. That means by the time she's 16 she will be able to apply it tactfully and in a way that is subtle and understated, so at the time when it really matters, she won't look foolish. Maybe you can give her some tips and help her out? This way she will also be encouraged to only apply the minimum, if you teach her. And that means she won't apply an overload and ruin her skin whilst wasting your makeup! Good luck!

When I was 13 I started wearing mascara and eye shadow ocasionally. I think it's fine for 12 and 13 year old girls to experiment with makeup, but I think it's to early to go out wearing it regularly.

I think it's too young. The object of wearing makeup (and wearing revealing clothes) is to attract boys. It really isn't just harmless fun. I think it's great she came to you, but I would try to discourage it

I think when a young girl is at an age of puberty. Now these things can be all of them or just even one of them. If she's: -getting hair in places that she didn't before -getting her period -needs deodorant -a bit hormonal You see, when we reach at that age, our skin does change as well. Our skin will tend to get oily, really oily, dry or really dry. So yes, by that time we should use make up. Make sure she uses mild stuff, like a pressed powder and no foundations yet. Foundations are for people who have a lot of skin problems or a lot of aged skin. Some lip gloss should be great too as well as some blush. Maybelline is great for young girls or if you do want some department store brands, you would ask the girl at the counter. Just make sure it's mild.

Its really up to mom on that one, but at 13 I would not go further than powder and lip gloss with barly any color in it. This is a good time to teach her about washing her face and moisturising and sun screen. I am 26 and I do not wear makeup although I played in it as a teen. I just don't think it is needed. And by no means do I have perfect skin. I think it is cool that she went to you, my little sis did the same and so I taught her to put it on so lightly you can hardly tell it is there. Now over 10 years later she still puts it on like that and is beautiful with it.
