Shane has cancer?

I was seeing the upcoming previes from One Life to Live. And saw the clips of Shane with no hair. Have the discovered his cancer, or is this upcoming?
I missed it for about a week, so I'm trying to catch up on some of the storylines.
Gigi's sister for one. She is a character isn't she?
