Economy downturn had affected every household in every countries, so how do you spend your money, on food matter? Do you still eat lavishly or moderate or poorly as a beggar? l always do budget first, before l buy any food. l still managed to eat the healthy way but on tight budget. l seldom eat outside, anymore. Most of the time, l prefer to cook at home.

Hello myfb. I used to eat a lot in those two small restaurants outside our school, but now I try not to eat that often for the food there is not cheap at all because of the economy downtown that prices go up. Sometimes I eat in the school canteen and sometimes I cook my own meals if I have time enough. I enjoy doing my own simple cooking in my apartment.

Wayback our glorious days, we used to splurge a lot on food.. my hubby and i would usually dine out every week.. we would go to cozy chinese restaurants, filipino restaurants, japanese restaurants, mediterranean restaurants, thai and many more.. in fact, we have tried different cuisines already but our top favorites are filipino, chinese and mediterranean.. now, with the global recession and financial meltdown, i just cook cheap yet delicious meals for my hubby.. it's way practical than dining out every week.. imagine with PHP500.00 or more, we can already eat 5-8 times a week...

You had make the right choice. Yes, you still can eat delicious meals, provided you willing to learn the kind of recipes that both of you had preferred to taste. it gives you more chance to upgrade your cooking skill as well save you alot of money in the end.

Home cooked food is much better. I seldom eat outside as I am very particular on the preparation of the food and its cleanliness. It is more economical to prepare our own home cooked food.

I also prefer home cooked food, as lm also quite particular about cleanliness of the food and the way how it was prepared. Besides that, l can save a few bucks by not eating outside, because every cook didn't have a fix price for the food that we order.

I am buying less food and cheaper foods. I only eat out now about once a month. Before I ate 2 or 3 times a month. I'm trying to keep my expenses down. Still I have to eat, so I find ways to spend less and still get good nutrition.

You can learn a lot by working in a grocery store and checking out groceries. I find that the more prepared foods that people buy, the more expensive their total bill is.
People who buy mostly the basics like fruits and vegetables and basic meats, etc. seem to be able to get more for their money. Maybe having a tight budget isn't all that bad. Wouldn't it be interesting if watching the budget actually sees us getting healthier.
I taught my children when they were young that if they wanted anything that was outside of the major food groups, they were considered nonfood items. Generally the more processing and additives that a food contains, the less nutritious it is.

The way you taught your children are correct. Myself also doesn't like to buy those food that contain processing and additives substances. l usually go for fresh food, where l can prepare myself. l can add and change the taste of the food according to my like. Only when in hurry, then l do sometimes invest my money ino those kind of food.
