Hi agrim, I am using free avg anti-virus and so far I am quite happy with it. It has both free and commercial products. The free version can be downloaded from free (dot) avg (dot) com. You may try also avira. The free version of avira can be downloaded from www (dot) free-av (dot) com. Happy mylotting!

Most of the antivirus software vendors are offering the trial versions to the home users for about a period of 30-90 days. All we need is to create an account with them with our email id.Then we can download the trial versions. Follow the below links and you can find most of the important vendors and can download the trial version. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivirus-partners/windows-xp.aspx http://antivirus.about.com/od/freeantivirussoftware/Free_Antivirus_software.htm

all free antivirus software like avira, avg, comodo are good enough but the ones you buy e.e symantec, mcafee provides full protection against all malware. it is recommended a good antivirus is bought and installed on your pc

The AVG product is really good I work at a college and alot of the students use it becuase it is free. It seems to update alot which is a key and it does not use alot of system resources running in the back ground. I would also add and lavasoft adware program as well just to be safe. Good Luck

I have tried AVG and Avast, and both are free. I know AVG worked well for me when I used to use it, and I never had any major problems. I eventually switched over to Avast because I had a few friends that recommended it to me, so I decided to try it. I now have Avast on all three of my computers, and it has worked really well for me. I haven't had any problems with viruses or spyware ever since I started using it. I think either of those antivirus programs would probably be fine. You should be able to download both of them on www.download.com. It is a great site for finding free programs and trials to download!

Like everyone has suggested, you can try AVG. Another one you might want to look into is BitDefender. I think if you pair up a free anti-virus with windows defender, it should take care of most of your potential viruses, although it is a bit less efficient than if you had bought AV software.
