I was reading the paper and saw this add for a course that I had always wanted to do. This is an excerpt of this advertisement . Cost of course = $10500 Registration fee = $250 I don’t know about you but I find this to be nothing short of highway robbery as I am still uncertain for the purpose of this "so called Registration fee”. I mean you will go to the places and all they will give you is an ordinary letter size paper that you will be required to fill up personal details that they will probably not even look at until they need to contact you. Consequently it couldn’t be an issue of recouping cost to provide for registration stationery so I am hereby calling on everyone who is knowledgeable in these matter to explain the purpose of these so called registration fee. In addition you may provide instances where you have been called upon to pay these fees and if you consider them to be reasonable and justified

I agree with you too Suzzy sounds like double payment .I would try somewhere else except that there arent many places that offer this course that I know of and to be honest I dont know if they are this affordable. My greatest issue with them is that they always charge you this registration fee but maybe that is their way of recouping some cost or the other .Thank you for your answer Suzzy

Hi ronnyb! All schools here in our country have registration fees and miscellaneous fees which I really do not know what it is for. The receipt given to you will not give details and if you question the school about it, they will say that there are some expenses incurred that needs to be covered up such as the employees working in the registration office, electricity being used upon registration and enrollment. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

Its the same here on our island and like I said its a ripoff because its a largely unexplained phenomemon. The truth be told I have heard the same explanation that you mentioned, that it is for certain expenses incurred .I also know that some schools are underfunded (especially where I live ) but at least make the fee justifiable.I would be willing to pay a fee for yor stationery and employees but I wouldnt expect to be paying a fee that is valued at 10 percent of the total course.Thank you for your answer .

Is this a college course? The registration fee could be for books, but usually you still have to pay for them anyways. Most college courses require them. Sometimes they say it's to cover the travel expenses of the person conducting a seminar. (They make pretty good money!) They always have some reason, but none of them ever sounded good to me. If the registration covers the travel expenses, what's the 10500 for?

No its not a college course ,it a short course that we have at one of our local training agency and I have done other courses with them. The courses are usually quite good and practical and usually cannot be obtained anywhere else at that price. My problem is that I dont see the reason for a registration fee.Maybe if they said to cover lecturer travelling I could understand but certainly not stationery.Thank you for responding
