Gay Marriages......RIGHT OR WRONG?

United States
November 10, 2006 11:20am CST
I am pro gay marriage. I myself am not homosexual. But I say, if two people love each other and want to get married, why not let them? Is it really hurting anyone? No. People say that it is wrong because they bible says it is wrong. Well, if the bible told you to slowly skin yourself, would you do it? Probably not.

I completely agree. Funny how we have all of this freedom, yet there are many who can't marry who they want to.

Banning gay marriage is basically saying "if it offends me, it's wrong." Since my wife and I probably do things together that would likely offend some people and we're allowed to be married, I have no problem with gay couples getting married.

Good point. We all do some things that may come across as offensive to another.

i agree too. good point. but people are not able to justify so they bring in things like 'the bible says it is a sin' and bring in whoever is in 'power' that says it is wrong. they make themselves appear quite silly cause it appears that they are suggesting 'so and so said it is wrong hence it is wrong'. have they no mind of their own? if they tell me they are against it cause they simply cannot accept it, that is reason enough for me.

I guess to each his own. But however, if these people had children, for women their own or adopted, they would definetely be affected by htis. Cuase they would question their own sexuality later on in life. SO I feel if gay people want to live together why not?? But what is the purpose of getting married??

very valid point. many a time we ask ourselves if having children will give rise for questions. i never really thought bout it the other way. i used to ask, how come i'm gay? i like this thread. please keep the comments flowing :) i also have a thread on homosexuality. do check it out if you have time!

What is the purpose of a hetero couple getting married? It is the same purpose. And what about a child growing up with a mom and a dad, and the child is gay. Wouldn't that make him question his sexuality just the same as a child with two moms or dads? It goes both ways.

bride & groom - bride & groom smiley
I think it would be a better alternative to make marriage unimportant to any one and instead have aform of contract drwan up between two people who wish to form a union....a contract more in the line of what each brings into a union rather than two people promising things that no -one can honestly know that they can keep....things change and seeing as the ownership of things seems to be the problem when marriages break up, that should be law for things to be set out in contract before a legal union if formed... then with a contract it wouldn't matter if you were gay or not.

It already exists. It's called a pre-nuptual agreement.

I totally agree with you there As far as I am concerned why can't People just stop justifying it is Peoples privat Life and how they lead it and who with has nothing to do with anyone else. Everybody lives their own Lifes and should be entitled to live it how they want and who with What you say about the Bible I agree with you there but also at the end of the Day it is said God creates us People and that means that these People have been created by God so where is the Problem,

Gay marriages are ok. some of the gay relationships with children involved come from the most loving homes. People have to what makes them happy themselves.

People think children living in a gay home will become sexually confused. I disagree with that. As long as the kids are properly educated about it, I don't think there would be problems.

I agree with you. I am heterosexual and am for gay marriage. For one thing, I do not concern myself with what is going on in any household that I am not a part of. Also, my life is not perfect so it is not up to me to tell others how to live. I believe in God but do not push it down anyone's throat. I can't see who it hurts and you can't help who you fall in love with.

Well I guess it depends on it you believe in the bible or not. And if you are afraid to go againstwhat others are saying. First the bible say let MAN and WOMAN be together and the reason he destoyed the land back in the bible was due to "gays". People are letting more and more thing go and slide on by that 10 years ago would have never say OK to.

Maybe that is because no days people are more and more willing to show their true selves. Just because the bible says it's wrong, doesn't mean that the bible is right. Don't get me wrong, I have faith just like the next person, but what one says, isn't always it.

Who are we to say who can love who. I belive you are born the way you are born you don't turn gay you are gay. If its what you and your partner want then how can it be wrong. I am not gay and I go to chruch every sunday but I have always had this opinion.

Amen! Many people who go to church do not agree with gay marriage. It's nice to know that there are religious people who feel the same way you do.

I don't think there's any right or wrong for us to judge. I mean afterall, it's their life, and we are all humans right? Who are we to judge them..
