As some of you know I've been struggling with the idea of whether or not to get a converter box for my TV. Well, I finally took the plunge! All I can say is, I wish I'd done it sooner. Even though all of the local channels have not yet switched over I am finding a much wider variety in program choices. I'm a huge fan of PBS so I've been in hog heaven with the 5 options now available to me. My second favorite is the channel that shows classic movies all weekend long. So, have you settled on any favorites since getting your converter box?

Welcome to the club...LOL. I got my converter box sometime ago and can't believe the difference either. With just my "rabbit" ears I only got one channel clear...this one I get all the channels clear and then some. Unlike you though I can't get the PBS channels..guess they haven't switched to digital and just have analog--so I'm hoping when the digital switch officially begins I can get them

I am so resistant to change, pyewacket, that I will fight against anything that troubles the waters!Sometimes I do this when a change will clearly be beneficial. I was wrong about the boxes and I admit it(said while eating my hat).

I have 2 boxes but am hooked up to cable so dont' need them, but waiting till it ll changes and if the boxes pick up as much as cable it is gone. We are having a problem with the boxes though I live down in like a valley and I tried the box on an older tv and oculd not get any reception, I hopeit is not because we are down in a hole, and won't pick up, like I said if it gets as many as we get on cable and I have heard from friends that theyare getting like 28 channels on theirs my cable is goine.

I have experienced some glitches with the box myself, bdugas, but I reason that it might be due to the fact that I put it on an old TV and my antenna is pretty crappy.I do plan to put one on my newer TV and hope that I'll get better reception.

Hi weemam! I used to be addicted to the shopping channels myself some years back. I found them to be perfect for me since I hate to go shopping. These days I love to watch the cooking shows and craft shows. I also like the travel shows.

Who did you buy your tv converter box from? I received my two government cuopons for converter boxes and went out oand got two converter boxes. The only problem was that one of the two converter boxes just went out on me soon after this time and the other one seemed to have probems turning off the written words on the screen. The words people were saying kept coming out inb Spanish on the bottom of the screen; the problem with this is that I know very little Spanish and had an awful time getting rid of the words.

My daughter purchased mine from Radio Shack, albert, and it sounds like your closed captioning feature is turned on. Try looking in your manual to find out how to disable this feature. If the problem persists you should take it back.

I plan to get my daughter a converter box this weekend. She is unable to afford satellite now and so I want to be sure that she has the box. I am glad to hear that you get some extra channels as we only have about 4 local channels. I will let you know once I get hers how it is for her.

Many people cannot afford cable or satellite, carolscash, so the variety in programming should be beneficial. I hope your daughter enjoys hers!

No, I have not gotten a converter box yet. I was thinking about it but we now have digital cable so we no longer have a need for it. Also, I plan to buy a new LCD television that is HDTV so I don't think I need it either. I never knew you would get more channels with the converter box though. You learn something new every day. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

We may have to downgrade and get a converter box. Our cable bill is quite high and because I am now the only one working the need may arise to cut out the cable. We shall see what happens down the road.

Congrats on finally getting a converter box worldwise! I hope you remembered to use the coupon for it! I too waited to get converter boxes for my TVs. But I finally decided to get one of my coupons to see what kind of differences there would be with having one of these boxes. And since I didn't want it to expire on me I bought my first converter box soon after. Had I known I'd get extra channels and great reception (when it doesn't skip or there's no signal) I would have made the switch a lot sooner! And with being out in the country I couldn't get some channels, like NBC or PBS before this. Now these channels comes in perfect! Yay! I haven't really picked a favorite, but my youngest son loves Qubo.
