If you are really worried about it dont get a credit card or like someone else posted, get one that has a very low limit, one that you can manage. But with how the economy is going, you might not even get approved for one.

I had credit cards when I was 15, my mom had put me on a bunch of her accounts. It helped me get my own credit and kept my credit rating good...until she passed away a little over 7 years ago. I didnt realize I was on some of her accounts and of course they had closed and a few written off to bad debt, well guess who else is in bad debt?!?! ME! It sucks and I am trying to get it all off because I never signed anything to be on those cards and legally I was under age. Its also not good because on my credit report it shows I am deceased...OBVIOUSLY I am not! I used them when I got old enough to use them and get them on my own and I started off with little ones like gas cards and various stores in the mall and moved up from then. It does make it hard though because you can go just about anywhere and buy just about anything. Its all about personal will power!! Good Luck! Keep your wallet CLOSED! lol...or at home!

If you plan on getting a credit card, make sure you get one with a low limit. If you get a card that has a limit of say $1,500.00, phone and have it reduced to a limit you can manage, like $500.00. Simple as that. You don't have to "take" all the credit they give you. I did that with my credit card. I had a limit of $3,000.00 and I had it lowered to $500.00. That way, I know it is manageable and I have a chance of paying it off. If I can't afford something, I just don't buy it.
