One of my childhood wish is to have my own room of my taste.I do own a room but no concept.A concept does not really matters but i would love to have in my own likeness. I want to self painted my room walls with creative designs, creates a colourful sidekick on one part of the wall, let the walls uncovered with cupboards on certain sides.Until now,i could not fullfill this wish.I hate the fact that my parents is kind of against this when they have cupboardssss to fill in my room.In fact, all over the house the walls are covered with things.Im actually dispute with all this lame house effects.Last time i do have lil quarrels with mum regards arrangements of things at home when i voice out my objection. In the end i have to concede. I dislike my room condition now and yearss before..i could not even change the replacements of things as everthing was like stuck inside..covering all the four side of the walls. The back of my room door is the only "wall free" when the door is close.Even its not in a messy state, the feeling of mess always haunt me. That's why now in 2009 after yearss now,... i have the huge feeling of wanting to really have my room revamp soon.I want to let go the unwanted huge cupboardss in my room!! I just want my bed, wardrobe, table & tv to fill my room!!!I dont know when i can;i shall see how.Im thinking and dreaming of it all these days..Ahhhhhhhh.... Or i just have to wait for my own home instead..Durghhh! Lucky i have a place to stay..hehe! Peace.

I'm sorry that you were never allowed to decide on how you wanted your room. As far as wall colors/covering go, my mom went all out for us. My brother had his room all gray walls with dallas cowboys border, cowboys area rug, bedding set - he was good to go. When I was about 13 or so, I decided on my new room and you should have seen my mom's face when I told her the colrs I wanted. Lime green, bright bright orance, and this real nice blue color. She painted my walls the lime green for me, and then I wrote and painted all over them with the orange and blue... and to help match things up, she painted my dresser the blue and green, and antoher shelf I had in my room. I shared my room with my step sister who is 5 years younger than me... so she looked up to me and loved anything I picked... so she was good to go. lol Its so much fun when you get to live in a place that feels like you. I feel bad for my husband now because I just set up the house the way I want it. lol I just pray that he likes it. Just thinkg... one day you'll have your own apartment or home and you can do whatever you want with it!! Some ideas take more money then you had hoped (ouch!) but its very rewarding in the end. Try and make due with what you can for now. Maybe you can put pictures up or posters or anything you find that you think defines you that would make your room your own. You know there's no big revamping projects in your near future - so find other fun little ways to make it more comfortable. A neet lamp? Or some new funky accent pillows? C'mon girl, get that imagination rolling!

Trust me, even when you have a home of your own, you still do not get to call the shots on how you want the room to be like. Take me for example, I have a room (so-called) of my own. But in actual fact, it is a secondary store room for the whole family. Anything that cannot be fitted into the store room, is placed in my room. Even when I do not mess up the table where I work on, there will be people putting all the unwanted stuff from the dining room to my room. And I get all the flak for not keeping my work area clean when comes spring cleaning! From clothes to toys to equipments, anything that doesn't fit anywhere else in the room, it ends up in "my" room! When all I wanted was a computer, a TV and maybe a large sofa in the room for me to relax in after a long hectic day in the office. But that is not to me. Not when I was living with my parents. And definitely not when I own my very own home. Sigh~~~!

when i was younger i had to share the room with my two younger brothers.. and later when i was staying at a hostel i had to share the room with 23 other girls.. in college i had one room-mate, but the room was designed in such a way that it seems like you have your 'own space' - so that was the first time i really had 'a room' all to myself later when i studied abroad... i had a whole apartment to myself and that was the peak of my life, i would say.. right after i graduated - i got married.. and with that.. i have to 'share' my room with my dear hubby of course.. who doesnt share my taste in decoration, color.. whatever.. and we've also 'picked-up and saved' so many things all these years that our bedroom is more like a 'storeroom', rather than a bedroom... but like you said.. thank god.. i still have a roof over my head, even if my bedroom is not something that i wish it could be...
