Are you really looking for an opinion?

When you ask someone what their opinion is on a subject, are you really wanting their opinion, or are you merely wanting someone to agree with your opinion?
I really want a person's hinest opinion when I ask for it. I enjoy hearing different views and seeing things from a different perspective. I have notiiced, in my life, that there are many people who will ask for another person's opinion, but then get upset when the givein opinion is different from their own.

I go for other people's opinion if I don't have the required knowledge in the field concerned.If I have the knowledge and can analyze things,then I will take my own decision.Otherwise,I weigh the opinions of friends or experts and finally make the decision.I don't just go for opinions.Cheers!

Hi lynn, you know that is so true ! Some people do ask for your opinion and if it's not what they wanted to hear they get mad, or argue your opinion.
If I ask for an opinion , then I really want to know what the other person thinks . I like hearing different opinions , it helps me to make a decision sometimes . If I had my mind made up already , I wouldn't ask for an opinion .
There are so many people that want you give you their opinion if you want it or not . They think they have the right answer to everything , maybe they just like to hear themselves talk

There are times I will ask for another person's opinion just to hear a different view, whether or not I have made my own decision. I can have my mind completely set on something and still ask for an opinion once in a while. It gives me something to think about and consider!

yeah i like to hear from others on some of the things i might have going on in my life, i wil only ask a few people.
when people ask me i always have to ask them do you really want to hear what i think? then they say yes and some get upset and some dont

hello lynnemg...well yeah i am really looking for one even it contradict with my own opinion..as long as it was nicely been express with no malice at all..its fine with me...it gives me sometimes another way of dealing on something in real world..

I think that contradiction can be good at times, and is something that we should expect when we ask for another person's opinion. I do agree that the person giving the opinion should be aboe to do so without being rude or mean, that can take away from it all.

Hi, lynnemg. I am not going to sit here and lie, when I do ask others for their opinions, I would like for them to agree with me. This way, I will feel that I can have someone that can honestly relate to me. But for me to get mad would be wrong and unfair. But mainly, I will ask of someones opinion just to see where they stand at. I want to know their views on a given subject. I want to see if we have anything in common. And if we don't I want just get mad. That would not be right of me.

Yes, I'm like you. If I ask for an opinion, I don't always expect it to be the same as mine. Like the saying goes, If everyone was the same and thought and liked the same thing, the world would be boring. It's absolutely true!
It's good to see hat other people think and get there side of the story, and most importantly trying to understand why they think the opposite, and the advantages that come with it.

If I asked others opinion about a certain subject it either means I don't know that thing or I am confuse about that. I respect others point of view so when they answer me even I am disagree I still accept it. and just like you it's nice to hear different view from different person. We are all different so everyone should not expect the same answer that they have if they ask something.

I think that we should all be open to someone else's opinion, even if we think that we know what we are talking about. I have had times when I asked for an opinion and ended up finding an easier way to do something I already knew how to do, or learning a little more about a subject I am knowledgable in.
