I have had cell phones for the past 13 years. Many, many, many different kinds. I had both the very simple and most complicated. The longer you have cell phones, the better you get with them. I currently have the 1G iPhone. It is probably my favorite cell phone I have owned. I would recommend it to another person. Being made of mostly glass, they are a little heavier than you think. Be careful, because they are easy to drop. The picture itself is beautiful. Movies and applications look great on the phone. But 2 warnings. First, the battery life keeps decreasing. The first few times of using, make sure that you let the battery go down to absolutely nothing, before charging. This is what is known as battery memory. This will help prolong the phone life. Also, unless you are using this feature all of the time, shutoff the WiFi searcher. If you don't the phone will search for a WiFi signal 24/7, even though you don't realize it. My battery started to go bad right at the end of the 1 year warranty period and no one told me this stuff. Out of warranty, it costs $80 to replace the battery. So this should help a bit! If you have the cash, get the 16 GB instead of the 8 GB. Music and movies take a lot of your memory, so if you are going to put these on the phone, go bigger. On the menu screen, one of the icons is for the application store. I use it all the time and have like 6 or 7 pages with icons for programs on them. There are both a lot of free apps. and apps. that you have to pay for. There are litterally 100's and there is an app. for everyone, no matter what your interest is. You can't cut and paste with the phone, in case you are used to doing that. Now for me this one was big. You can't send pictures to anyone else and if anyone sends you a picture, what comes up is an ATT link which you have to go to. From there you put in a username and password, which they supply. It litteraly drives me crazy. I think to myself, I paid $400 for a phone and I have to do this everytime. I just tell my friends to not even send me pictures. Well, I hope this helps. I really started to get into the phone and just went on about it. Sorry for being long winded. Some of this is really important things no one told me about and I want to help others out. I hope I answered what you were looking for? I would say to definitaly get the 16GB 3G iPhone, I love my phone. If you have particular questions about things on the phone, just let me know. Let me know also if there are any particular apps you want to know about or any I would say to get. Good luck with the phone!! MM

thanku so much for that, its things like that that are so important to know but the manual just doesnt tell you. i was considering the 16gb one but i think i'd only use it for songs to keep fit to. that and the fact that it was £10 a month more on a really bad tarriff so i thought i'd get the 8gb one to see how i get on with it then buy the bigger one later if i need it. i didnt realise that u cant send photos with it, thats really annoying as its something i do regularly with my current phone. ill just have to take my digital camera places with me now. thanks again, u r very knowledgeable :)
