The cheetah who is the relative of the cat,the world's fastest mammal, runs at a maximum speed of sixty to sixty-there miles per hour.Remarkable also is its rate of acceleration-from a standing start to a speed of forty-five miles per hour in two seconds. However,it can maintain its top speed only for about 300 yards before exhaustion causes it to give up the chase.

Cheetahs are amazing animals, it takes your breath away to watch them run. I'm honored to be owned by one of the fastest breed of dog, the Saluki. While the Greyhound can often outsprint them, Salukis traditionally hold their top speed for much longer, and can outrun a Greyhound on long distances easily. I can remember, three decades ago now, when I had my first Saluki as a pup. We were choosing sides for a softball game, and my pup, who was about six months old, was running loose in the (fully fenced) ballfield before the game started. Once of the team captains took one look at him pouring on the speed and yelled, "I get the Saluki!"
