Have you ever hear of this theory? I have and now I found a clip on YouTube that synchronizes the song with the Wizard of Oz. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNbv0L1x0iA David Gilmour and Roger Waters have always denied that they intentionally arranged the music that way but if they didn't it's a remarkable coincidence. Do you know of any other music that unintentionally synchronizes to movies? I love Pink Floyd and really enjoyed this clip.

I have "Dark Side" in my collection and had never heard of this "tie-in" before today..someone on Youtube commented about the sync phenomenon with the movie keeping up if the Album is on repeat play..Which made me wonder..which version of the Album would stay in sync with the Movie (and How?!) with repeated play? One of the vinyl 12" copies of this 1973 Album release? Just the one side of it? Does Anyone know How long it takes for an LP record player tone arm on repeat to complete the outro to intro restart sequence?(my guess-15 seconds?) Or would it be a CD version staying in sync for the Album's 42:59 runtime against the movie's 101 minutes? I just don't see The "Floyd" sat there planning half their album continuously on repeat to sync with a showing of "Wizard of Oz" without a break in a cinema somewhere when double sided vinyl was still state of the art tech, and especially before home video was available.... Wikipedia mentions "Oz" not being released on Videocassette until 1980! I'm thinking Whoever came up with this idea was a Floyd Fan with too much time on one hand and a VCR remote control in the other!

I agree with you, they didn't sit down to synchronize with the movie. It's a wonderful coincidence! You're supposed to start the CD just as the MGM Lion finishes roaring as the movie opens, then I guess it synchs perfectly from there. I think David and Roger were too busy writing DSOTM and had neither the time or inclination to do such a thing. Although it sounds like something they would have done if they'd had the leisure and a videocassette in the 70's!

I feel I should perhaps qualify myself and say I wouldn't go so far as to hint or insinuate anything exotic or "recreational" may have been in use while any of this was going on! Thanks for Best Response!

Yes have heard about this theory but not read it in detail yet. They often declaim to have arranged the thing like that but tells that it happens just like that. I too do not understand what lies behind the curtain.

Hey, how are you?? The clip is really nice. I had never heard of the theory as well. It is intresting to match the visual and sound of two diffrent things into one and see them blend!

I haven't seen you for awhile! Hope things are going well! I do love Pink Floyd and when I heard that theory I thought that some day I would look it up and tonight was the time! I'm glad I did, I really enjoyed it.
