Are there ramping streets or staired streets in your city?

I used to live in a city in northeast China, where there are a lot of ramping streets, very tough for bicyclers. A southwest city Chongqing is famous for its staired streets, so that cars are much less popular there. Are there ramping streets or staired streets in your city? I see photos of such places, usually with old houses on both sides. They must be special appeal for travelling.

I studied in the Netherlands for four months when I was in my twenties. It has lots of excellent cycle tracks that are traffic free. Even on the roads the local drivers are very careful indeed not to knock over a cyclist. There are beautiful canals and I was cycling one wet afternoon and my bike slipped on one of the wooden bridges. I fell off my bike and bumped my head. In my home country I wear a helmet but in the Netherlands I didn't think that I needed to. I have seen bikes having difficulty crossing tram lines in cities like Amsterdam and further away from home in Melbourne.
