My hubby is taking my niece and daughter to the Art Museum today. My niece needs to do a report for a class. But doing the report about her experience isn't enough. She will also need to take pictures, as proof that she really went. Without the pictures she will not get the credit. How insane is that? Do school officials really think we are raising a generation of liars?

You know, we aren't raising a generation of liars but unfortunately there are people who want will want to short cut the assignment and would try to do that. I would think though that pictures of the museum or exhibits there would be on the net and could be included in her report. Maybe the teacher is just trying to encourage a more creative type of report.

Good grief, it's not like they are going to reimburse you for the costs of going to the museum and lunch and gas to do this. Plus they don't allow you to typically photograph the exhibits so you'd have to take pics of the lobby or something and what would be the point in that exactly? This is what the lobby looks like.... this is the building.... here's the phamphlet & the reciept from the museum

I am surprised they didn't ask for a few brochures from the place as well as even more proof. That is silly though, Not everyone owes a camera(that cost to develop photos) a digital camera but that takes a printer and ink in some cases.. So I think it is silly to assume that everyone has these things to be able to take pictures and the money or things to develop them if they did. I don't think they need the pictures even though it would be nice to show things about where she visited but I feel that all she would need is a parents signature showing she went.

That is ridiculous. I don't understand what schools are playing at these days. They go over the top on silly issues like this but things that are important are often neglected.

And what if the girl or her family did not own a camera or could not afford to buy one? Then what? She would not get credit? That is dumb.

I like going to the Art Museum with my daughter. I always think it is so cute when she says, "daddy, why are they nked?" As to the photographs, I think that's a commentary on the state of parenthood that many adults would just tell their kids to lie about the field trip. Sad, huh?

If you are on argument with the school management you will never have a sound sleep. Yes, why not student is to follow the guidelines. If she is to take pictures she has to for this has not been formulated for her only but for all. There is no point you grumble. I am a teacher myself , though not a school teacher but a college teacher, that whatever the institution has in its guideline one has to follow. So relax and let her take some snap.
