NATIONAL GAME Of INDIA......Still HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indians are worshiper of cricket & Players are treated like GOD in INDIA........
Now, the question comes why HOCKEY is still the NATIONAL GAME OF INDIA........
yaa........Indian Hockey team won 8 GOLD MEDALS in OLYMPICS.......and in total 11 Olympic medals........But,that has became a history......How many medals they have achieved in recent yrs or how many cups they won......I've a FULL RESPECT FOR MY INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM.......but,I can not accept HOCKEY as our NATIONAL Game now.....
How many AstroTurfs are there in INDIA for playing Hockey as compared to a large no. of cricket grnds........how many peoples would want to watch a HOCKEY MATCH rather than watching a CRICKET MATCH.......
Funding is also a matter here.........The BCCI is the RICHEST Cricket Board in the WORLD......they r controlling the world cricket........even ICC can't do anything without BCCI support.......
Indian Cricket team is Playing so well since last 10 - 12 yrs......
so,It's time for a change......
CRICKET SHOULD BE MADE THE NATIONAL GAME OF OUR COUNTRY.......

Yes, you are right Hockey is still the national game of India. But, Cricket has won such a fame and interest among Indians, and the Indian cricket team does well. So, people are more interested in circket and it looks like cricket is the national game. Now a days, Indian hockey team is doing horrible.
I agree with you saying Cricket should be declared as the national game of India....but we think back when Indian cricket teams does poor performance...hope that won't happen in future.

indian hockey is in bad phase because of poor facilities ,political involvement,lack of funds.butif we declare cricket as national game then their is a possibility that this game ends. so to maintain glory of hockey it should be national game

Why????I agree cricket is worshiped in India,where Sachin is a Godly figure..but India once created players like Dhyanchand,Dhanraj Pillay...they also won Olympic gold medals..it has to do even with our cultural heritage..Hockey was started in India whereas cricket came from the Britons..So hockey is an indigenous sport and not hired from someone else..And one cannot change the national game of a country now and then..so hockey shold remain the national game of India...

If half the money invested in Indian Cricket is invested in Indian Hockey, Hockey would be more famous now. It is the facilities for Hockey in India that is taking the game down in India. Even with the current facilities, the Indian Hockey team is performing quite well. So I disagree with you that Cricket should be the National game of India. It was, it is and it will be Hockey.

i disagree.i may be a cricket fan and but i am even a bigger fan of hockey.ofcourse ever since the phase when dhanraj pillai was left out and jugraj singh met with an accident,it was glorious days for hockey.sure cricket is been famous ever since we won world cup but hockey was continuing in the same way.u have to agree that hockey is one of those games where u cannot afford even to blink ur eyes and if u do,u might miss one of the great moments unlike cricket.as i have seen in one of the responses,give atleast 25 % interest in developing hockey and provide facilities,our guys have the potential to win many more golds.
and by the way,all it needs is 6 months of poor form from the cricketers,even IPL wouls lose its charm.cricket is one of those magic carpets where u can go either to the top and get thrown to the deep pit.CRICKET IS ONE FUNNY GAME
