How do you deal with non-stop talkers?

I recently met (over the phone) a woman who can talk non-stop for hours, apparently. A mutual friend gave her my number since she was looking for someone to give her advice on selling secondhand merchandise, which is one of my occupations. After being on the phone about 15 seconds, she broke into her life's story, which I tried to listen to compassionately, but enough is enough. She does seem like a nice person, just has a lot to talk about! I was glad to help her out, but I have never met anyone who talks so much! She even talks more than my cousin who I try to avoid. At least, with this woman I could get a word in edgewise, and she listened to what I had to say. But if I had to deal with this person everyday she might drive me around the bend. I'm not a big conversationalist myself, I'd rather be writing, but getting to know her could be an asset, since we both love secondhand and I really could use some help, but I'd hate to offend her by telling her to shut up already! So, could you put up with a non-stop talker if it could benefit you in other ways? She's supposed to call me again tomorrow. Help!

Yeah, after I tried to get off the phone with her the first time, she talked for another 15 minutes! I finally told her my dog was going crazy out in the yard and I had to get off the line. (well, the dog was barking a lot, and the neighbors were probably the crazy ones....)

I don't know if their is a nice way to tell her to stop talking. You can try making excuses to get her off the phone but if that does not work then You might should just not answer her calls. This is why I like email for people like that. So I can just email them and be done with it. I would also thank your friend for sending her your way and tell her nest time to just give her your email. I know situations like this can be annoying. I try to be polite to the person but I know it can be really hard.

Hi there, those kind of people are totally annoying lolz. And emailing them is a good idea to save your time and escape from them.I should always make excuses if they started to talk non-stop, they sounds boring. Happy posting.

Oh my God sounds annoying and boring lolz. Well in my own way, i just pretend to listen her lolz. A non-stop talker sometimes is not appealing and not nice to do the conversations. So tomorrow when she calls again, tell her to talk you quickly lolz.

I hate like that! Most people I know who are talkers are women! I know a guy who is and he is worse then some women I know! I try to avoid people like that! If I don't I don't get any work done! If I am cornered I try to say I'm busy or try to continue working and hope they leave me alone! Talkers driver me crazy!
