I am so tired of buying meat then bringing it home to find out its bad. This has happened over five times. I dont know what they are doing but they need to fix it. The good thing is that they do refund the money for the bad meat but its starting to become a pain to have to go all the way back and return it. I never had such problems before. I wonder if there refrigeration system is off. Have you had a problem with buying bad meat lately?

Hi, moneymommy! Some months back, the raw meat at Piggly Wiggly will be very bad in texture. It had veins that looked like it was no good. I know that they say that it is best to buy raw meat the first of the month. It will be more fresher then. If you see it looking spoil in the store, don't buy it. I will start to ask the meat depratment about this.. It sounds like they should make sure that the meat is very fresh. I see this a lot at Piggly Wiggly. That is why I will just go to Wal-mart or Bi-Lo to buy their meat. I will even check out Food Lion's meat too. I have had this problem with buying meat several months back, and I know that I will have this problem when I start back buying it.. I will just have to brace myself for the inevitable.. I hope that you will get your hands on some fresh meat. Try, trying another store to buy you meat from. I think that most of the raw meat is injected with hormones, maybe that is why it looks spoiled and no good.

It's very possible that there was a problem with the refrigeration. Make sure you always look at the date on the package and the color of the meat before you buy it. I've had an incident before where the meat looked good, got it home, unwrapped it and discovered it was gray on the bottom. You just never know what you're paying for.

no because if it happened here in montreal, the health inspector would be called in the store would pay a fine or be closed down. This is a health hazard, and there are some people who do not have the sense of smell and might eat that meat and get very sick.

I have not had an issue. Usually if the meat goes bad it's my own fault. Especially when they have hamburger onsale.... they make you buy 3lb+ to get the sale price so I buy a few pkgs to break down & sometimes forget to do that.

This happened to me years ago at Sam's Club. I took the meat back and when they saw that it was bad they refunded twice as much as what I paid for it. I felt sort of bad to take the money but that is their policy. I think I would talk to the head manager and maybe even show them how many times by your receipts you have had to bring stuff back. If the manager won't work I would want to talk to the owner.

It is a shame that you have to deal with such an inconvenience. This type of thing hasn't happened to me lately however it has occurred a couple of times in my life. I just return the meat and either get a full refund or something else for my trouble. I am not sure what it could be. You might have a point about the refrigeration. Is it the same grocery store that this problem is happening in? I wonder if you could speak to management. Five times is just too many times. Imagine all of the other people that might be buying meat there and eating it. I hope there isn't a lot of people getting sick. It is good that you brought this subject up though. It might tell people to be sure they check their products before cooking or buying.
