Yesterday, we went to lunch after church with friends. As we were sitting at the chinese buffet, there was a cd playing through the overhead speakers. The music coming out took the four of us back to a time when we were teenagers. We started to discuss the music, and the groups that we were hearing, and our kids were there, rolling their eyes.
Lionel Richie's "Truly" Styx "Babe", Kiss "Beth" Cindy Lauper's "Time after Time"
and Air Supply's "All out of Love" were just a few of the songs they played while we sat there.
What decade did you grow up in? What songs do you remember and which groups were your favorites?

well, I grew up in the 60's and 70's but I love Styx, Cindy Lauper and on up to a good bit of today's music.
I was listening to "Bob FM" here in town and just about every song I heard was one of my favorites! I was having a blast singing along with the radio!

My dad's baby sister is only 12 years older than me. So when I was a little girl, she was a teenager and would babysit me. I grew up on music from the 70's! Kansas, Boston, Elton John, The Bee Gees, Chicago, The Stones, The Jackson's, the Monkey's. Wow! Those were the groups! There is nothing like them today!

I remember the one's you mentioned. Sure does take me back to the good ole days! But for the life of me I can't think of any to add here. I guess I have too much spring cleaning on my mind to try to think of any right now.

I probably kind of cheated a little, since I am always listening to 80's music on Pandora Radio! The very first date that I went on when I was 16 years old was to Styx concert. The worst trouble I ever got into with my parents was sneaking to a Aerosmith Concert. I guess my entire teenage years were wrapped in and around music. LOL

I was born in 1982, but oddly enough, the music of "my time" is not the stuff I remember. I absolutely love music from the 1880s up to around the 1960s-70s. I also love a lot of foreign folk music, especially from places like Russia, Serbia, and Croatia. So I guess my taste in music would be rather off, compared to most people my age, living in North America.

ahhhh... the 80's.... tight pants and big hair... remember? LOL... I liked the 90's grunge the best... bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Bush, Hole, Offspring, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, Collective Soul... I could fill the page, but those are my faves, and they bring back so many great memories.

I was the same way. When we watch something with alot of 80's music in it, my girls will laugh at me, because I can sit here and sing almost every song word per word even after 25 years! Quiet Riot, Cinderella, Journey, Foreigner...even the Country groups like Alabama and The Oak Ridge Boys all have special places in my heart.
